Child poverty +

Recommended Posts

Been there and survived so i can be hard ,been homeless and had to fight the council to get my rights ,lived in some real dives before getting married .

I must say though theres no shame any more ,i certainly wouldnt lie in full view in the high street like many do excepting handouts some simply consider it a job

Had the nagging pain of hunger many times as a kid my old man was in the navy some stranger use to appear and the food got better every few months but as i said theres poverty and just being poor .

If you drive to the food place and chuck it in the boot and take it home as i often see passing farnhams food bank your not in poverty by a long shot and having seen a few programs showing what goes in the "parcels" its certainly better stuff than the basics we buy so i can see the attraction

HA HA reminds me of my tryst with the local doo gooders ,one day i came home and some woman askked if i were mr granger ,i said yes and she handed me an envelope ,i presumed it was the local vicar and his advertising for christmas and gave it to the mrs (who opens unsoicited mail because she is sad) anyway it was a cheque for £87 ?!?! From some parochial trust .

I googled it and found it "gave" to the poor of the village ,now i am not poor i know poor and i am not that ,close sometimes i admit but i do have a bit of instilled shame so i found her house and popped it back through her door (very big house no doubt the owners are feeling guilty owning it so divert the guilt doing "good") with a letter telling them to give it to a really poor person ,not heard back from them since (titter) now if i had been poor i would have to had walked 3 miles to put it in the bank then walk home havnt the buggers heard of paypal!

What exactly is a "do gooder". I hate that phrase. Whats the opposite of a "do gooder"? Is it a "do badder"?

The problem isn't what people don't know, it's what they know that just ain't so.

Analysis of the reasons people use food banks;

http://www.trusselltrust.org/resources/documents/press/foodbank-report.pdf

I have heard of cases of people being sanctioned for stupid reasons.

The official line is somewhat different;

I trust the official propaganda about as much as I trust The Guardian's - i.e, about as far as I can throw Eric Pickles. I wonder where the truth of the matter is?

What alternative approach would you suggest to deal with people who say F.U. to the system? Just shrug, oh well, here's your gyro?

A do gooder is a person whos good exists in their head not necessarily in reality ,one that thinks you need something you may not indeed insist you need something you may not ,a do badder is probably not very good at being a do gooder or insists you dont want something you do ,who knows its just talk stuff

No not pdfs my machine hides them after opening and its hard to get rid of the buggers

When your sanctioned your not unemployed ,sanction 50% and unemployment drops in the stats ,it the modern take on training a person on training although not having a job comes off the jsa stats which in turn is a twist on moving the unemployed onto the sick twisting the stats and resulting in the crap the system is in now

We (or rather my mrs) was sanctioned for not returning her esa 50 , i took in the slip showing it had been returned signed for but still it had to go to a decision maker who 3 weeks later backpaid her money ,we had to go through the rigmarole of doing all the council paperwork and lost 60 quid (6 quid a day overdrawn) because the mistake was the dwps not ours

As you say silly reasons hense we keep food in reserve for at least a month

I have no problems with people being sanctioned. I do have an issue to people being forced into going to a faith based charity or any other charity to make ends meet.

Sanctions or food banks?

Food banks. Your the one who mentioned sanctions, not me.
