I don't think it would have been politically feasible to hike up the community charge to the current levels of council tax.

 

I think the community charge could have been fixed to make it fairer than the system we ended up with - but it was a political dead duck. House value is a poor proxy for ability to pay, and the charge should be per adult, not per household.

I never for a second thought it was ,i just picked up on the word ,having lived in shitholes i know what some are like ,cold running walls etc LOL

There has to be a divide or society fails ,the rich give jobs to the poor without either everything stops .

The rich who set everything up want a return on their money if the worker demands to much money however well deserved the incentive to provide those jobs falls ,the company cannot compete ,the company folds the worker goes on the dole ,less money is better than no money surely you can see that.

 

Now lets get onto immigration ,cheap labour forces the british worker to fall in line and get paid less or lose their job,everyone suffers but the employer who makes more profit .

 

Now is the employer to blame who doesnt like something for nothing ,that cheap tv made in china is made off the backs of badly paid workers but at the expense of potential workers here making tvs (we used to make them from scratch at one time)

Our labour is just to dear to support uk manufacturing in all but specialised items ,unfortunately without someone being exploited nothing will get made at all.

 

This gov tries its best in tax allowances for the poor but if it hammers the rich they have the means to bugger of abroad and put two fingers up to the tax man so you have to look after them unfortunately but all governments do ,without the rich ,no jobs ,no tax ,no unions everyone taking from the pot country goes broke like greece

 

There is no ideal world the rich get richer the poor poorer it doesnt matter what government it is its that simple and it really has to be that way to survive ,we all want more money but if everyone was equal how could anything work

 

The ex miners grumble ,the ex textile workers grumble about the rich but it was the rich and only the rich that put up money and took a chance it would work that set up the mines and factories ,railways and canals in the first place ,without the toffs we would all be long dead ,look after the toffs and they may put some of their wealth our way ,a cleaner on 6quid an hour cannot employ a cleaner on 6 quid an hour can they

Lets all work for £3 a hour chesters my old school mate who lives in germany was over for a few weeks he has just gone back i went to his wedding in the early 80ss in germany he has lived ever since where he works as manager unions and management work perfect together in his engineering company .

 

He laughs when he sees how trade unions are portrayed in this country all this goverment wants to do is flog them to death its rubbish they are living in the past good management often have a good workforce they work together in harmony whats happening in this country the people at the top are creaming it off big style while the ones at the bottem end pay for it white collor workers have gone miles ahead in pay while the grafters have fallen behind we are supposed to be one of richest countrys in world rich for some yes but not all a fair days pay for a fair days work chesters nothing wrong with that some see the other a hard days work for a pittens.

 

I went to my mates farm at 10 picking spuds all day left school at 16 straight to work i know what graft is like i said a fair days work for a fair days pay not two bob and conker.

 

As for greece the country has gone bust because nobody pays there tax now i wonder who fiddles the most the little or the big man what do you think.

The government decide minimum wage but they cannot force companies to keep prices low ,they cannot force landlords to keep rents low and only competition keeps prices low ,its not always low wages its high everything else ,get off your anti toff table and look about ,if rents were low ,utilities low ,food low sky tv low the minimum wage would be lovely its not explain how the government can do more ,raise the minimum wage everything rises (not down to the government) if theres money about you will lose it and its not toffs ,its mostly greedy landlords forcing up rents because theres a demand (2 million foreigners in ten years ?) ,workers demanding higher wages to cover the high rents .

 

All the government can do is raise tax thresh holds (pointless if your not working) the EU force governments to raise taxes including VAT ,the gov can leave the EU but then theres even less jobs as the EU will get spiteful and put trade barriers up hows that done by toffs?

 

You really must get out of this them and us or tory vs labour crap,the toffs have to be toffs to provide jobs and all parties will pander to them because if the toffs bugger off to monaco those jobs go down the drain theres far cheaper labour in africa ,the jobs go ,no tax ,no dole everyone suffers we all die of starvation unless we flog our houses to the greedy buy to let bastards

 

If you want a decent wage kick out the foreign cheap labour ,who let them in...........

 

As for the unions been in two both never got me a rise more than their subscription rose and neither did a thing other than call strike action for petty things to show how powerful they were all it ever did was punish the worker to prove a point over the management ,luckily in both the masses were not effected ,when it comes to trains and buses the union bastards punish everyone for their own greed

Chesters the tory goverment is costing the tax payer more in housing benefit because of a shortage of affordable housing its perfect for the greedy landlord no housing high rents its easy this lot sold off the housing stock and are now going to sell more who benefits the landlords big style and who pays the tax payer strange one when this lot are supposed to balance the books.

 

Anyway its budget time lets see who is going to get hammered and who are the winners any bets .

 

Low income familes 1-20 on

im not blinkered! I see ALL politicians as money grabbing self helping barstewards of the highest order!!

personally...get all the religious leaders, politicians, zealots and people that smell slightly of cabbage in a field and bomb the lot of em!!
