A british teacher is facing 40 lashes as punishment for allowing children to call a teddy bear MOHAMMED.

 

Well , what about the millions of parents who have called their children the same?

Harsh and OTT to be sure but if that is a seriously fundamentalist country as the article indicates, not really surprising.

 

If they actually do whip the teacher (and 40 lashes would likely kill a female person her age) might it not be time to re-activate the gunboats?

I think its a travesty myself, but what is it we Brits (and I'm sure you Americans too) often say.......when in Rome...........

 

We say this to try and make immigrants behave as we do in OUR country, but when we err in THEIR country, and pay the price, you wan't to bring back the gunboats.......

 

Is it any wonder they hate us???

 

Just trying NOT to take sides here and play devils advocate.

 

p.s. any of you w4nkers calls my teady bear mohammed, and you best prey I stop at 40 lashes!!!!!!!!!!! ;-)) (remarks meant tongue in cheek)

What a suprise. I thought religion was about peace,love blaady blaa, not being developed into pain, terror, even possible death in the name of your religion, please. Where in their book does it say you will be lashed etc. sadists united would be more appropriate to who ever wrote that..

Yes, she should have made herself aware of local sensibilities and no, I don't believe that 40 lashes is in any way justified but if there's any good going to come out of this, it's that she will have a class of 30 or 40 kids that might stop and take stock of the sordid and brutal befief system that they're being indocrinated into and join the 6m Africans that walk away from Islam every year. Afterall, it brings them nothing but poverty and ostrocisation.

If they seriously intend to kill or imprison a middle age teacher over this then yes, I think her country (she is still a British Citizen rather than an immigrant trying to become Sudanese) should take strong measures to prevent it.

Yes I think we should move heaven and earth to prevent a hair on her head being touched.

 

However I suspect this is just a political move on behalf of the Sudanese government in light of Britains condemnation of the Sudanese actions in the region. I hope so.

As you may know I worked in the Middle East and other Islamic countries for a good number of years and worked alongside numerous men named Muhammad. Do they fall under the following classification ?

 

It is seen as an insult to Islam to attempt to make an image of the Prophet Muhammad.

 

In all my time in Islamic countries and KSA is as fundamental as they come I have never heard of this as a crime against Islam.

 

They may considered this to be some kind of political rebuke but if they do they seriously need to take stock of their outlook on life and make some fundamental changes in their attitudes.

 

Picking on a middle aged female school teacher, jailing her and threatening her with forty lashes does nothing to help their cause and a lot of damage to their faith.

spoke to a co-worker about this once, its considered a sign of respect to name yourself after it/him what ever.

 

also cast your minds back a few hundred years i dont know much about it but im prety certain that christianity had a few penalties for blasphumy.

 

not condoning the lashing and its horrible its happened. we have to respect the cultures laws, its like going to america killing someone and saying oh well i dont recognise your law or belief im going home to la la land.
