I dont think anyone has argued any government at any time knew what they were doing ,getting out will be just as disastrous as it was going in!

Contributions to the economy made by foreign workers need to be offset against the net drain on the economy causedby the British workers that they displace from the jobs market and who consequently have to have the tab for housing, medical care, children's education and living coats picked up by the taxpayer.

I very much doubt that they make a net contribution when those numbers are crunched.

The net drain can be doubled ,those on low income including foreigners will never contribute anything bar NI into the system so in essence a foreigner working perfectly legally can take in benefits anything ours can .

A foreigner displacing a uk worker put the ex worker on the dole where he gets JSA plus his housing costs paid and the new worker can also claim the same in work benefits we can but i think (hopefully) child benefit is slightly harder to get for a score of kids back home in roumania ?

We have plenty of unskilled labour its seen on phones in town at 10am or hanging about at 'yooof' agencies .

I can see there would be great difficulty for those with kids here existing on minimum wage housing costs are crazy but single people being paid to sit on their arses when they could be picking fruit or cleaning cars crazier!

And thats before you get to the social costs of not training our own doctors, nurses, plasterers, plumbers etc; leaving young people unable to enter their chosen proffesions because it's cheaper to employ johnny foreigner.

A couple of weeks ago, I was watching a video made by Romanian guy who was astonished to find London cabbies supporting Labour and espousing free movement.

He pointed out to them that it took them 3 years to get a Hackney carriage licence but Romanians could come to London, live 6 to a room and undercut them by driving Ubers with no training.

Even after explaining to them that they were voting themselves out of a livelihood, he was astonished to discover that they still thought open borders and Labour policies were a good idea.
