Great fun if you can afford the things ,at the uni there were several banks of submarine batteries ,hasten to say these were out of bounds to the students .

Jacobs ladders are easy as every Frankenstein movie shows

Builta demo one forstudents out of tv triplers ofcourse the more triplers there are the more fun you get but they do let off an awful pong when they melt

Hee probably got them at one of those warehouse sales chesters. One Canadian Peso for a box full

 

The first ship I was on was a Reefer. The auxillary refrigeration was powered by huge lead acid accumulators. NOBODY apart from the reefer enginners were permitted in the accumulator sheds. Just ONE little spark and it would be "Goodnight Vienna".

We have a couple of radiometers on our window sill ,every visitor asks them what they do and are puzzled when i say pretty much what you see ,they go round and thats about it ,without the globe absolutely nothing

Yes ones a blue one so not as sensitive as the clear ones ,it needs a little kick start in dull weather as the bottom needle has scored the glass due to age so has more resistance to starting off.

They dont need sunlight just bright conditions

Great fun at keeping people amused Chesters, but my favourite from my childhood has to be the nodding bird and the glass, wonder if they still make them.
