Good site to give air pressure

I see the EA have developed their site giving river levels to give forecast levels as well and also rainfall

https://check-for-flooding.service.gov.uk/

All to the good I guess for planning trips once we've got used to it. But it reminds me I don't have a good site at present for air pressure. The one I used to use seems to have disappeared, and a quick google doesn't seem to yield much. Can anyone recommend a good site?

I remember finding a hardys thermometer when fishing once ,i presume like air pressure any measurements taken were for your diary ? In my view if your float bounces off the water surface its probably frozen and not worth bothering ?

After all you have to be there to take the temperature so if its 1 degree above xx do you go home? As for air pressure does it make a difference compared to wind direction  which effects fishing more imho?

If you look at your phone the weather app will display the direction of the wind ,the temp (-x = cold ,float may bounce) and the air pressure ,dont bother with the rain part they dont have a clue !

I did like my pike fishing ,especially on new years day with my son before he came across 🤭 girls .

One year suddenly the swim was full of dogs when the local hunt came past ,then i managed to get a treble in my thumb and had to drive off to hospital to get it removed (couldnt push it through and cut it it had gone into the joint) caught a nice pike on getting back but son had eaten all the sarnies he was so concerned and broke the flask .

I now follow your advice when theres a chance of floats bouncing and play a game on the computer ,plenty of sarnies and the teas always hot.

I will though go detecting we have just got 20 acres of woods to go in ,the ground doesnt freeze like fields but the bracken hasnt died down yet ,tripping over brambles and getting eyes poked with twigs from branches is as bad as hooks so its not all plain sailing

This weather page from the met office gives a surface air pressure chart:

https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/maps-and-charts/surface-pressure

NB: I served as a Meteorologist in the Royal Navy when I was in my mid to late 20s (a long time ago 🙂) so don’t get me started on how we used to follow the effect that the weather had on our fishing back then 🤐🙂

I never used to bother with forecasts.   Angling is just like weather forecasting - you can always find reasons for success or excuses for failure AFTER the event.   The trick is to make the best of the conditions at the time.   I used to angle twice a week minimum - now down to once a week minimum - because  since passing 85 years I no longer go if it is too cold for my comfort,  as I am compelled to sit  things out and can no longer move about to keep warm.

Before 85 the only fishing trips I regretted were those I didn't go on.  That continues to be true...
