Phillip William Read, MBE was an English professional motorcycle racer. He competed in Grand Prix motorcycle racing from 1961 to 1976. Read is notable for being the first competitor to win world championships in the 125 cc, 250 cc and 500 cc classes

Championships: 125cc – 1968250cc – 1964, 1965, 1968, 1971500cc- 1973, 1974Formula TT – 1977

I've just read that we lost "Judo" Gene LeBell on August 9th 2022.

Gene was a world-class martial artist who trained with Bruce Lee and stared in dozens of movies.

He was also an early proponent of Mixed Martial Arts, with his 1963 fight against boxer Milo Savage.

Gene was the referee in the Inoki fight.

In his own fight, 13 years earlier, Savage used brass knuckles and Gene choked him out so hard that it was 20 minutes before he regained consciousness.
