  1. a farmer up the road dug one ,it looked very nice when a year later he annoyed a neighbour who tipped of the council , it is a very nice field again, retrospective permissions with the council rarely work with a hole in the ground
  2. he WILL half the immegrants its easy; what was "asylum seeker " read "essential worker" remember also if boris from belgrade arrives with mrs and six kids arrive only boris is counted
  3. thanks i have e`mailed them to see when the shalford was built (hopefully)
  4. there is rms on the brass bit that supports the spool mine has constant anti reverse hence the clicking have you any info on chapman rods spindle [ 26. February 2003, 08:12 PM: Message edited by: chesters1 ]
  5. and clicking noises i have a no2 mrk 5 hopefully the later models had a selectable anti reverse, excellent engineering otherwise ,like clockwork the ambidex was also the "duco" and the "delmatic" and probably a few others, same reel different lable the older versions had a "hump" which disapears later due to i suspect different internals [ 26. 6. i expect the radiation in them would be less than normal background radiation BUT i expect the manufacturers are being carefull not for us but to avoid litigation with mr wong (whoever) and his fellow workers who handle the stuff in bulk when they load the machines that make them. i expect the stuff in flourescant tubes ,tv tubes etc is just as bad but they still use them [ 26. 7. i expect they release pheromomes that could be picked up by other fish ,in being caught i expect they release something as chub are a bit shy anyway it probably does affect them but perch are hardly known for shyness especially the little ones i expect any bladder trouble is due to it being unable to adjust it due to the speed its brought up rather than the depth otherwise it wouldnt be able to swim up and down in the water ,its a bit wobbly on its feet because its swim bladder is still compressed due to the water pressure at which it was at, a few mins at the surface and it will be ok [ 26. 8. i know there were a few 500`s and a 900 i expect the ali spool was for sea work ( people used them for light sea spinning etc) because they were less likely to buckle under heavier line use
  9. keepnets are best kept for matches , i have seen cod from 300ft brought up quickly with extended eyes and swim bladders but are perch found in these conditions ??? as for telling their friends i dont think they remember even to tell themselves as i have recaught identifyable perch within minutes of releasing them [ 26. 10. i shall be trying out my altex tomorrow (the line lay is prehistoric though) combined with a chapman "the shalford" or a apollo taperflash (whatever comes to light first in the loft) with a nice quill float just to remember how it used to be
  11. as far as i know a 300s is a 300 the "s" stands for skirted spool (the "s" on other models beside the 300 and 400 series means other things though) for instance the "pro" is really just a 300 with cosmetic enhancements etc it could though be one with a plastic addition behind the spool???? 13. if you go to (presuming youve got xp) "start"-"settings"-"printers and faxes" it should show your fax (if its installed) if it is great. then type out your letter using whatever and click on print ,hopefully a box will open to ask you what printer to print to in the drop down box listing the printers your fax should be listed ,click on that and hopefully your fax software should start (fingers crossed ) a microsoft " fax " starting thing should start up [ 25. 14. my mrs uses an electronic crossword solver mind you to complete her rubics cube (when it came out) she took the coloured stickers off a restuck them , all a bit silly when you could have had the fun of smashing it to pieces in frustration
  15. forgot to warn you if you strip it down watch out for the shims (024) there can be several they stick either to the body or the flyer being very thin they stick unnoticed to either but disapear down the plughole on washing (i learnt the hard way 30 odd years ago) i have never fished in woking i stick to farnham AS waters nowadays unfortunatly jsa allowance doesnt run to running a car anymore mick at the creel in station road aldershot carries a selection of spares for mitchell reels ,i managed to get a screw for my match a couple of months ago old abu also (small parts) for a REAL clean carburettor cleaning spray gets the grease out pronto and wont hurt the alloy [ 25. 16. once a year ,or in dusty conditions a strip down every 3 months print this out for reasembly i use ordinary oil but i like to use spray grease this "revitalises " the origanal stuff ,use ordinary grease if you strip it down [ 25. February 2003, 06:35 PM: Message edited by: chesters1 ]
  17. its just the oiling thing ,undo it put a few drops of oil or a squirt of spray grease and bobs your relation , i think its there because if you take the reel apart in the usual way a certain amount of juggling is required to put it back together if your using it for fishing buy a spare bail arm spring they are noted for failing [ 25. 18. good , french do not consider themselves good drivers unless they can corner on 2 wheels minimum and hitting someone on a zebra crossing is enough for the legion d honour medal (the equivelent of a purple heart in the usa ) taxes are for "other" people to pay if their up set they blockade ports and tunnels connecting themselves to britain  but not to their natural enemies (everybody else) they hate britain because we keep sinking their navies (in most centuries) they helped in the falklands war by selling exocets to anybody (no difference to any other country there ) 99% of women go topless not just the ones on my holiday snaps but also their mothers and grandmothers they can speak a form of english if you shout loud enough after pig degaul liberated france, the french showed how hard and tough they were by shaving the heads of several women who had collaborated with the nazis completly ignoring that most of parisien women made (and still do)their money for their husbands ,lovers ,fathers by the very same methods. 19. just click on start then "run" type in regedit then "ok" and bobs your relation but as always back it up first and be carefull
  20. the best bet is self delusion ,if your going for carp persuade yourself your going to catch bream and vice versa
  21. remember a leader of our navy used the same ploy some time ago the difference is our one died in battle ,bush will be safe in his bunker with his cronies watching his countrymen die
  22. an old way and probably completly non pc nowadays was to hit them with a bit of wood on the vent ,it certainly quietened them down long enough to unhook them
  23. generally a silenced air rifle deters birds , but what birds are you trying to scare , we would all like to see a cormorant scarer but how would you just deter them and not grebes or herons  i suppose you could employ as airports do the alarm call of the deternee? bird but who the heck wants to hear that all day ,i go fishing for a bit of peace and quiet not a cacophany of bird alarm calls ,generally the most problem is with swans or ducks after the boilies but if you dont bait the swim they dont bother you if they see fred bloggs feeding a couple of kilo`s then across they come if you use a stringer or bag they dont notice , some of our rented waters are also bird santuries i`m sure if bill oddie saw you preventing him from enjoying HIS hobby words would be said. watch out at uni if you invent something that makes money youl lose it ,EVERYTHING done in uni time belongs to the uni that also DOES include thoughts , keep it to yourself and "discover" it after you leave ,believe me i have had first hand experience  the tutor is pushing towards something because theres "something "in it for him [ 22.
