  1. Excellent well done, keep catching more.
  2. I cant say I have noticed much vanishing except in severe flood conditions and even then you can usually find them in quiet waters or sometimes in deeper water. Like Vagabond I too have caught species you would not expect with frost and snow and even a few times when snow has been belting down.
  3. Think natural and just to be sure check up on what Perch like to eat.
  4. Personally I think all waters in and within easy access around towns should be free for all. then there could be no arguments as to who is responsible and for what. As it so often is now just to find out which club is controlling and responsible for what section is a minefield for many young or old who might want to begin fishing.
  5. I just don't believe this in times of austerity. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/...t-for-bats.html Perhaps it's just me but why not a wider bridge to accommodate both bats and children
  6. That's why people are hearing less and less from me...A good thing did I hear the shout go up...hehehe I feel there are a few determined to treat the coarse fishing forum as a chat room, sure argue, friendly banter, micky taking, sure threads move and evolve, no problem. However its the total move away from any relation to the thread that is killing it for me. I was going to do one on old fashioned Perch baits but now I think, oh, get on with it, I'll keep quiet.
  7. Perhaps the moderators could have a look and slip some of the more political threads into the non fishing chat forums please. pretty please.
  8. I would applaud anyone who wants to improve our British society and am happy to welcome ideas for discussion. However I think rather than members of Parliament suggesting this or that they should get their own house in order before they open their mouths. Perhaps they should all regardless of which political party they are, get working together for the benefit of the country and British society as a whole and that includes the bankers and business leaders that are having such a widespread effect on society far, far wider than a few criminals going on the rampage. Lead by example e.g. stop being so soft with members of parliament and Government and local government employees, who have been less than upstanding, honest and law abiding, simple kick them out of Parliament and or Government or their jobs, then if they can be proven to have committed a crime stick them in prison and seize all their assets. For they are doing far more damage than any and all the drug dealers and criminals do as they are the representative face of the country as a whole. One people one law. I look upon misuse of public money as just that, although I also believe it is far worse when persons who claim to be educated and to represent the people and the country and are already in receipt of very considerable salaries and have exceptionally good pensions to look forward to, steal or fraudulently claim money or misuse money or their authority they are not entitled to or in ways they are not entitled to.
  9. I for one agree with him public land is and should be just that public land and I would refer you all to the public land the Government and Farmers took from the public after WWII. How much longer are we going to put up with this robbery of the general public without complaint?
  10. A few in English would help. Even club controlled waters seldom have any signs on them. Many waters should have signs warning of possible infection if you and/or your pet go in them.
  11. Your assumptions are your assumptions, which may or may not be different to mine. Your theories are your theories, which may or may not be different to mine. Your ideas are your ideas, which may or may not be different to mine. Your way of putting questions, your responses, comments and your science are your way and not mine. I feel there is a pattern to what and how you respond, comment and or question and I am not happy with it. I feel there is an underlying reason to what and how you respond, comment and or question and I am not happy with it. Not saying that there is anything wrong in that but well I guess I am a little less easy going than some. So I doubt that I am likely to respond to any threads or questions you put, nor to any responses to replies to threads you put, so lets just ignore each other and that will be nice. Sometimes people are simply not compatible.
  12. I think its wonderful that you are in a club with a waiting list nothing so flash as a bit of exclusivity. However may I point out that such legendary exclusivity can vanish much quicker that it appeared and without a website you may just end up being know as a jumped up and superior than thou crowd. I have been in a few clubs like that and am in some even now, so I know a bit of what I am talking about plus over the years I have seen some just vanish almost overnight. If you are in a great club shout about it, be proud of it and its achievements and waters, stop hiding your successes under the bushes. Help other less fortunate clubs to learn from your continued success.
  13. Here is a link to their site there are also some very good county run sections. http://www.bdaa.co.uk/
  14. Although a very nice looking reel I am not going to chase after it.
  15. For me for Roach maximum of 2lb locally in a very fast and snaggy water 3lb. Although they are exceptions usually a size 16 Kamasan B911 to 1.5lb sorts most out. But in exceptional cases you can drop right down to an old mustard size chart 10. Seems lately hook sizes have got even harder to state.
  16. Well done Elton. But maybe you should trade it in for a real fishermans wagon like this one...hehehe http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=704696 http://chiefsworld.activeboard.com/t439130...oured-vehicle-/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marauder_%28vehicle%29 Just what every fuel conscious angler needs and the wife will find parking much easier and most likely she wont even dent your bumpers.
  17. What? Do you mean to tell us you don't use wasp grubs...!!!...Just about one of the best Chub or Roach baits there is. What are you doing?
  18. Sorry, Sold my old walker cane coarse rods ages ago just got some of their fly and hollow glass and carbon coarse rods now. Although I do still have How to build your own split cane fishing rod by G. Lawton Moss, M.C., T.D. with the Foreword by Viscount Scarsdale of Kedleston published by The Technical Press Ltd, Gloucester Road, Kingston Hill Surrey 1947, plus the usual collection of making and repairing tackle books that I expect most have got from that era.
  19. Me too, looking at one of the Drennan range as I want a long telescopic handle (10' - 3mtr) and they have been recommended.
  20. Hmm! always suspected you were an angler looking for a bit of hard fishing, maybe you have found just what you need...hehehe Seriously John what is access like I have been looking at the edges on google maps and as you say it looks as if it is a wonderful spot certainly from the scenery point of view and all those boats and wind surfers, just to save you feeling lonely. Glad you caught some fish.
  21. I have just bought a lightweight ABU spinning rod, but I have not tried it now do I consider myself expert enough to advise on current spinning rods or spinners, lures and plugs.
  22. Great, now get out there catching and have some pleasure and may they all be stripy and spiked.
  23. I too do not call on the resources for the BDAA as I don't want to be a drain on them another thing may be worth considering if you have a problem sitting down is the old fashioned shooting sticks I use them now and again, you sort of stand yet perch...hehehe
  24. Me, well I am fanatical, crazy and when it comes to fishing very greedy. I would start again alphabetically a county at a time starting on small streams then rivers but leaving out the lakes. I would work from the old county divisions rather than the newly divided counties which in my opinion I believe have only been broken up to increase the number of local government officials, bureaucrats and politicians we are now forced to keep in comfort. For example:- Old Counties of England 40 Bedfordshire - Berkshire - Buckinghamshire - Cambridgeshire - Cheshire - Cornwall - Cumberland - Derbyshire - Devon - Dorset - Durham - Essex - Gloucestershire - Hampshire - Herefordshire - Hertfordshire - Huntingdonshire - Kent - Lancashire - Leicestershire - Lincolnshire - London - Middlesex - Norfolk - Northamptonshire - Northumberland - Nottinghamshire - Oxfordshire - Rutland - Shropshire - Somerset - Staffordshire - Suffolk - Surrey - Sussex - Warwickshire - Westmorland - Wiltshirev - Worcestershire - Yorkshire New Counties of England 74 Avon - Bedfordshire - Berkshire - City of Bristol County corporate - County borough - Special post town Buckinghamshire - Cambridgeshire - Cambridgeshire and Isle of Ely - Cheshire - Cleveland - Cornwall - Cumberland - Cumbria - Derbyshire - Devon - Dorset - Durham - East Suffolk - East Sussex Division - Essex - Gloucestershire - Greater London - Greater Manchester - Hampshire - Hereford and Worcester - Herefordshire - Hertfordshire - Humberside - Huntingdon and Peterborough - Huntingdonshire - Isle of Ely - Isle of Wight - Kent - Lancashire - Leicestershire - Lincolnshire --- Parts of Holland, Parts of Kesteven, Parts of Lindsey - London The Metropolis - Special post town - City of London County corporate - Merseyside - Middlesex - Norfolk - Northamptonshire - Northumberland - North Humberside - North Yorkshire - Nottinghamshire - Oxfordshire - Soke of Peterborough Liberty - Rutland - Shropshire - Somerset - South Humberside - South Yorkshirev - Staffordshire - Suffolk - Surrey - Sussex - Tyne and Wear - Warwickshire - West Midlands - Westmorland - West Suffolk - West Sussex - West Yorkshire - Wiltshire - Worcestershire - Yorkshire - East Riding - North Riding - West Riding As the new administrative counties came off Wikipedia I am not sure how accurate it is. But if it is accurate then it is in my opinion a classic example of a Government rip-off and con. I think we could save the country a fortune just by returning to the old counties. What do you all think?
  25. I managed to get one but that was over a year ago and that was an amazing effort literally hours on the net and phone. I hope you can find one as they are excellent rods. Although I expect they will be sold on Ebay at a premium price now and you will have to accept you are going to pay more for one and even more for a hardly used one than they would have been brand new.
