Which is more pleasurable – float fishing or ledgering?
essox_lucius replied to tiddlertamer's topic in Coarse Fishing
for me it depends on the water /weather conditions/season/target species but i love float ledgering and as i mainly target pike float fishing for them is a fantastic buzz -
funny though at work all the lads want me to take them and i have started about 5 ppl off in angling

i have tried chickpeas with a good rate of catch also other pulses ie waterchestnuts were brill

depends on species as to how long they can stay out of water but i would say unless its a really good fish i unhook and release in the water .If it is a big fish i have camera set up on stand before i fish and pointing still unhook fish in water take the weight in water then take to bank quick click back in may seem a little to over the top but certain fish ie pike dont last long out of water and a fish dead because of a photo is very sad

any good baits and storys for coy carps
essox_lucius replied to carpkid123's topic in Coarse Fishing
there used to be a massive white ogon koi in a tiny pond near me which would not even sniff at any baits way to many ppl targetting it i guess always wanted to hook it but tescos decided to buy the land build a wharehouse on it so the pond got filled in only for tescos to never use wharehouse and its stood empty for 3 yrs hence i never shop at the poxy stores -
er out of my millions heres one lol.Got permision to fish a special water overnight for c*rp drove the 30 miles there sorting my gear out thought i better put bivvie up er no bivvie had to drive 30 miles back home while trusting an old carper to watch my stuff gets all set up and forgot cati so thought i will wait till the day lads leave then bait up. i had to swim across the smallish lake with bait and rig in a bag as i wanted bait right under a overhanging tree.Gets out the water to discover no cooker oh the joy went to sleep with no coffee and cold tin of beans inside me. woke up at 5 am screamer of a run hit the fish played the fish got the fish to within 10ft from the bank a big common . The fish decided to launch for overhanging roots and brambles which it made a great success . so back in the water with my last clean clothes on well t shirt and shreddies found the line and the carp got her free joy off she shot grabbed rod to find no fish aaaaaaargh. to top it of the sheep had discovered that my loaf of bread was verry yummy so happy days

i think they may work in stocked lakes or natural lakes with massive head of fish but on a hard water i find them a waste of a cast

more deaths are caused by ppl doing 30 on a 60 i would of thought lets face it theres just to many crap drivers on the road . I would have unmarked cars driving about and for every bad piece of driving you get 1 point on licence ie not fecking idicating cutting ppl up tailgating trying to go all the way on the outside then getting across as late as poss when traffic cones make dual carrig into single and so on

i would think fish are more flavour guided than colour. i once bought some (well alot) of the in bait a few yrs back and they were dark brown . now the home mades i was using were same colour though differant flavour which caught me fish the in flavour failed miserably even finding fish getting runs on my boilies then putting new ones there produced nowt.I was so hacked off i was telling a shop owner mate of mine that i was going to complain when he agreed but said he knew a lake were these boilies caught of course it was private and expensive to fish but they did actualy work

good stanley blades far cheaper lol

Do You Think This Journalist Might NOT Be An Angler?
essox_lucius replied to Elton's topic in Coarse Fishing
he is an idiot i agree however to waffle on about carp bieng the king fish is a tad short sighted as there not even native to this country perhaps these should be victimised like zander and catfish.I dont think anyone has the right to fish for one species over any other every fish should be given equal status even the humble stickleback has started and hooked many young boy -
theres a nature reserve near me that breeds herons to release so the area is stuffed with them theres no kingfishers as the herons have ate all the fish
