  1. http://www.classictitles.com/?p=1344 Hmmm, this certainly would free a bit of room in the car, not sure how long the wife could tread water tho'!
  2. Do you think that he would go and give them a prod if we offered to be his friend?
  3. Now thats more like it. I wanna see Jackbooted EA Bailiffs stomping along the bank, you know the sort of thing, dogs, lights. walkie talkies, stubby cigarettes, missing teeth. Otters/cormorants with a line through them on the door of a beat up landrover. Searchlight sweeps the bank with a harsh cackly "no sudden moves" cutting through the dark. I want some sign that my money is being well spent.
  4. Do you think that they will get round to homebroo soon?

I have always wanted a bead dispenser
  6. What a brilliant site...this is a real must have...now I can login and really get an up...1 day less than before. Better than that.....1 minute less....ahhh
  7. You could take a look at the Norfolk Broads, not far away but plenty of opportunities, there is a website http://www.norfolkbroads.com/explore/fishing-spots-locations/ that should get you started. The River Bure nearby is popular.
  8. I once had a nest of wasps attack my cap!
  9. I am sure that I have some scales somewhere. But Don't you think that scales, digital/analogue, make the whole thing a bit nerdy? Does the experience of catching a fish get better or worse for just weighing the fish? Would a stopwatch to record the time taken to land the fish be the next logical step?
  10. I would look for a decent second hand at the same price. If you are fishing streams, as opposed to reservoirs, then even a good glass fibre is worth considering. Aldi & Lidl rods are OK to leave in the car but the ones that I have had have been a bit stiff. The travel rod shown (4 sections) is the style of rod that is often in end of season sales etc. I would prefer a 2 piece. Advantage of car boots etc is that you can actually feel how heavy and how it is balanced. On no account pick up a Hardy second hand rod, it will make you weep.
  11. No place for racism in fishing full stop. No place for racism at a commercial fishery- bad economic sense. Never turn away customers. Trout fishing has no trouble with customers using the fishery as a fun take away. So simples.. Price for fishing there should reflect the restocking costs. Then supermarkets will under cut the fishery price and the hungry will leave the fishery. After hours fishing should reflect the cost of overtime for fishery staff to collect the fees. There we are, a solution that Thatcher would be proud of, simple supply and demand. A bit tricky to get the otters and cormorants to get the hang of this though, I think that the supermarkets have problems on the hygiene front with wild animals etc etc They would need to dip their feet I suppose.
  12. I had no trouble with this bit, the money left my account as previously specified. It actually turned up today!! 'RAYYYYYYY I think that where they go wrong is in making you think that it will turn up soon......
  13. Yesterday started off looking like a blank, did a little trot round the lake to see what was happening, gave time for the fish to find the feed. Then finished with a half dozen small carp and perch (about the 1 lb mark) and tiddlers just using the whip rod. Mind you it did get chilly, so started to keep an eye out for a Weddup turning up!
  14. It was usually the sign of a pretty desperate session when you went after the stickies
  15. By lake I was thinking of those large circular holes with few features, usually well stocked. If you spook the fish they have nowhere much to go, on the river if you spook the fish they can bu**r off 1/2 mile down stream. Most rivers are long thin sections separated by weirs but the big difference is the vast number of features. Each weir produces a pool, with flowing water to contend with. Overhangs, bridges etc all vary the conditions of visibility. In addition the fish have a pecking order of swims, hence you often see the same species of fish at similar swims. The section on the Gipping mentioned was the section from the weir beneath the road bridge at Blakenham/Claydon down to the Paper Mill Lane lock. I disbelieved the local reports of good bream in this section (mainly fishing either side of the weir) and then one day hey presto they were there, then the next day it was no sign! I can only presume that they live way down this section and had a day out.
  16. You need to straighten the line and get ready to strike immediately, otherwise they will have sampled and rejected, and gone! You will not get a second chance. I have found that rather like rudd they do tend to get interested in anything red.
  17. I am always fascinated by cyclic reports of fish missing in a river. Yet when I get down on the bank there is often an amazing sense of deja vu, roughly the same species and roughly the same sizes. The great thing about rivers is that it is not a group of fish going round and round. The move up and down the river for the best feeding spot. A section of the Gipping had reports of good bream "all those years ago", I never saw any sign of em, until one day!!! Then never since. The little dears are there somewhere! It makes a great difference if way down the section a tree goes down or a bramble is cleared.I expect tat it is like a domino effect, one group is moved, they go to another swim and this displaces another species etc etc
  18. When I have had a good session with dace it has usually been over a gravelly swim, shallow but the water is flowing with pace. Maggot/blown maggot on the drop, held back seems to attract their attention. Another situation worth exploring is one of those very chubby swims, where a branch over hangs the stream just above the water, float loose feed through and then hold back on a float so that the bait is sub surface just under the leading edge of the branch. For me the abso best is with the fly rod, dace are stunning performers for the dry fly. The absence of the float makes them bolder but they are so fast, you need to straighten the leader as soon as it is on the water of it will be too late.
  19. It must be worth a trip to March just to see what else is on the shelf, or under it!
  20. Yep I've caught those two there as well, sodding net suddenly went at right angles!!
  21. It is not as simple as changing bait. Just about anything is possible with a worm, but how you fish it will raise the probability of a specified species. A mixture of experience and knowledge will help here.
  22. Do you think that they need a licence?
  23. I'm waiting for the online version!
  24. Dont bet on it Bought mine on 21/3/13, moaned about nothing had turned up on the phone 30/3/13 Still nothing Online chat wiv em 8/4/13. GASP Used to buy it a local sub post office to help them stay in business...still closed them down. The EA obviously want to deter us from buying our licences!
