Sanctuary What did you use to edit the video?

A gentleman who fell out with a garage up my way and set fire to the premises when he couldn't get his engine back! Couldn't catch sharks either.
-
Probably better than your shark fishing though. Mind you hanging about with the Garage Burner didn't help your skills :-)

I meant to say that if you're going to a wedding in Lochinver don't expect to be fit for any fishing :-) The Big Man

Saw this in the papers today and it said it tasted carp :-) The Big Man

Yes with the loop. Need a stiff rod (oh err missus). Retrieve and move rod in jerks from side to side. Mr Gilbey had this on one of his fishing the edge shows. The Big Man

Head north to Clachtoll. Park in at caravan site overlooking the bay. To the south of the bay there's a mark called the split rock (it'll be obvious when you see it). Good for lythe and saithe. To the north head out round the second smaller bay (sometimes has a salmon cobble in it) then go over to the second headland for flats and dogs. The Big Man

Regularly see leatherbacks (every couple of years) off Dunnet Head. Usually late August / September. The Big Man

Blindog Just about any of the beaches from the Moray Firth to Cape Wrath have produced bass. Lug on a flooding evening tide is your best bet. They've been landed in every month of the year but best are the late summer and early autumn months. If you are coming up give us a shout first as the weed can be a pain on some of the beaches.

Not to sure if i do know him although a lot of my mates work offshore, i hope you are right, although we have had a poor run of late! Sure you will, he usually fishes off Carl Ferrier's boat. [ 02. February 2005, 05:23 PM: Message edited by: The Big Man ]

Who ever he is he ought to get his maintenance sorted out, I'd be staying in the pub I think rather than chancing going back out to sea on a vessel with that type of recent history. Manxman - this is a licensed charter boat not long through its MSA testing so it's a bit rash for you to assume that the problems were anything to do with maintenance. I've personally fished from this boat for ten years now and have never had any problems with the levels of maintenance with any of the skippers and the present owner is no exception. Having a boat myself (and having been towed in :-() I'm well aware that a newly serviced piece of marine equipment is no guarentee that things won't go wrong. If there had been any major problem the boat would not have been allowed to go back to see as various inspectors happened to be at the harbour today. By all accounts the lads and lass had a good day although the weather kept them limited to such exciting marks as the Thurso ***** pipe!!

They're on there way back out now. Second time this week the boat has had to be towed back in :-( Although I suspect the problems are unrelated. The Big Man [ 29. January 2005, 07:53 PM: Message edited by: The Big Man ]

Shaun "Susan's" tackle shop has some, Paula could pick you some up when she's in for bait. If I have any of last years lying about I'll pass them to P. The Big Man

I'm going to make you an offer you can't understand! Off to find a sea horse's heid. The Big Man

The limits are for the capture and keeping of fish or crabs. Chances are you would be on a dodgy wicket if they were found on the boat even if not landed in port. Crab size limit applies to all. The Big Man

With this wind direction the water is liable to be a bit manky so if you can get a hold of lug and mussels I'd bring them up wi youse. The Big Man

Measure & "Release" - really conservation???

quote: The reason for 2 is; 1 round and 1 flat, that way you can also have pools for flat and round, that the only reason to be honest Surely there are liable to be more dead fish using this scheme than measure and return? An angler will kill the first fish and then kill the next one which is bigger etc. I have to say I enjoy the competition side of angling as well as the pottering about. The Big Man
