  1. Why would the Brits living in the Eu want to return to UK?
  2. We have a hornets nest in an old shed at the bottom of the garden. In the past we have had one in a bird nesting box. TBH they are no trouble if left alone and the don't return yto old nest sites so I am happy to let them live in peace.
  3. HaHa Know exactly where you are coming from. I was walking out of our local Post Office, something I have done many times. There are two steps down, I thought that I was on the bottom one but I was still on the top. I took a large stride forward, into thin air. As you say, base over apex and laying on my back. Luckily the only thing bruised was my pride but that didn't stop a small concerned crowd from gathering and insisting they help this poor old English man who obviously couldn't be trusted to be out and about on his own. I would love to say I immediately leapt to my feet, but that might be exaggerating a touch
  4. Sad news indeed. When I lived up in Scotland I always intended to go up and meet up with him and never did.
  5. I am afraid that you committed the offence, knowingly or not. It is not about guilt or innocence, it is about guilty with mitigating circumstances. Driving with no insurance will always attract steep penalties and if you decide to fight it the penalties could become steeper. I don't think you have much choice TBH. Could you ask them for time to pay? It could have been worse, they could have just seized the vehicle.
  6. Opened last month down the road from me. I will have to give this a try. https://www.ruffaud.fr/
  7. The fact that a footballer can be paid as much in one week as it takes a trained nurse five years to actually earn is something I find deeply offensive.
  8. I just saw this https://www.indy100.com/article/donald-trump-moth-discovery-troll-twitter-science-tiny-genitals-7532761?utm_source=indy&utm_medium=top5&utm_campaign=i100
  9. That apology for a man knows nothing. Lie after lie
  10. "If you feed the beast, it will destroy you" I don't use any of the social media with the exception of two fishing forums. I don't even have a smart phone, I have an old clamshell phone that is used to make occasional phone calls. I wouldn't have one of these "virtual assistant" in my house
  11. I would have no problem with returning anyone found carrying a weapon to the country they claim to be from
  12. This seems to be more effective than mass stop and search, at least the reults seem to indicate that. Quote Forty staff from police and young offenders support officers to probation services, the NHS and the Job Centre, work together from the same office with a group of up to 70 people aged 10 to 24 deemed at risk of offending. It can be challenging because agencies approach the issue from different "philosophies", said DI Lexton-Jones, but being on the same site helps, and: "Our shared vision in this partnership is to stop the kids hurting each other." The team's welfare-oriented approach echoes that of Glasgow's Violence Reduction Unit, which hit headlines after its mission to treat knife crime as a public health problem halved the city's murder rate over ten years.
  13. Possibly https://www.standard.co.uk/news/crime/the-police-gangs-unit-behind-a-dramatic-knife-crime-drop-in-one-london-borough-a3802096.html
  14. Money well spent IMO It will give years of pleasure. Match fishermen routinely spend 2-3 thousand on a pole and change it every year or two.
  15. Another option is to add gelatine to the water that you pump the expanders with, to produce a more robust "jelly" pellet
  16. I doubt the pellets were 1.5mm. A normal size would be 6mm I use 2mm micro pellets as feed and I wouldn't want to try to get on on a hook They are very soft so it may be a problem with them staying on the hook during casting. You will also need a pellet pump to get them to sink Have you tried soft hooker pellets? They are available in loads of colours and flavours and tend to be slightly more robust than epanders
  17. So, I'm sitting on the plane on the way to Malaga. There is a coupe of young men sat to my left so , to be friendly, I said "hello" to the one nearest. "Hi" he said, "my name is Bob and this is my Siamese twin Dave" Well! Bit of a shock but I carried on chatting. "So, do you and Dave go on holiday very often then"? "Yes, we try to get out two or three times a year" "So what do you go for, sunbathing on the beach"? "No not really. People tend to stare" Right, so is it to watch the pretty girls in the bikinis"? "No, not really" "So, is it the cheap booze"? "No, neither of us drink" So, why do you go then"? "Well, to be honest, . . . . . Its the only chance Dave gets to drive the car"
  18. The lack of overtaking made it a bit of a nonsense
  19. Now you are talking about country of origin, not point of entry and as it says, you have to catch them before they enter, and of course, if France catch them entering from the UK they can do exactly the same and send them back to UK. I am not sure whether the Dublin Regulation will apply after Brexit, in which case you would have to send them back to their home country.
  20. Sorry, point of entry is the state that they entered into Europe. The UK would be responsible for sending them back to Grecce, Turkey, Italy or wherever. Why should they expect France to do it for them. You would be in the same situation as the rest of Europe
  21. Norm It is a lot more difficult to stop anyone crossing a border on mainland Europe when there are so many ways to do it. There is also the Schengen agreement, so that is why they are in France (and every other country in Europe.) Of those in France, the majority stay there and ask for asylum. Why wouldn't they? They are more likely to be granted asylum in France than in the UK and the get more benefits. A small minority, a few thousand, want to carry on to the UK. Many more move on up through Belgium and Holland and to Scandinavia. France is not a stepping stone to the UK. I think it is a great idea for the UK to control their borders, as long as they do it in the UK. Of course, you have only got the Port of Dover and Folkestone terminal to worry about and you apparently have millions of illegal immigrants getting in. Then you blame France.
