Wanna Catch a Grayling??

Wahay! I've actually purchased some maggots, a rod (we'll see if it's any good), some split shot and a catapult so small that it's going to take me all weekend to whack out 10 kilos of particle mix with it!

May need to stick some oil of some description on my centrepin.

and I found a tackleshop that hasn't burnt down, bought some maggots, and spent 20 mins this morning applying my new flavour to them - takes ages to count all those drops out of the pippette!!

I now have some of the nicest smelling maggots I've ever met!

I'm sure the 'pin' aficionados will tell me that its the wrong stuff and Mr Young is turning in his grave, but I've just carefully put 2-3 drops of 3-in -1 on the spindle in mine and it seems to work a treat. I started spinning it at 9.00am and its still going :D

Hmmm......I think I bought the missus a sewing machine once. Bound to have been a sample of oil with that...

WD40 didn't really seem to cut it

I'm only jokin' though WD40 isn't recommended.

Think it's because it leaves a waxy film that attracts dust which in turns into a micro-grinding-paste. Though that might be just rubbish.

I use clock-oil but I've learnt that after half hour of fishing bits of dirt and the sawdust off the maggots get behind the spool and stop it running anyway (well, it does with a 12-spoke aerial). In which case a quick dunk in the river and all's well again!
