Noticed in NEWTS signature block and thought it just about sums up the state of our country.!

According to the government stats, there is now a record amount of people of working age getting help from the state as they are unemployed for some reason or other. 2.5 mil is the official figure while there are another 5.5 mil on state handouts, that appears to be a sick workforce.

Free to choose apart from the ones where the trust poked their nose in. Common eel. tope. Bass and sea bream. All restricted.

New for 2016 TAT are the main instigators for the demise of the u k bass charter boat industry, where they went screaming off to parliament and for the first time assisting so called angling gurus set up bass take bans with the e u using rubbish exaggerated info collected by ices from anglers, they must be very proud.

Upgrade, the door has been closed with regards to anglers being linked to the e u superstate and the failed c f p. So TAT will no longer need to pay monies to the EAA anymore as that org is no longer relevant to the u k . Goodbye to the europeon anglers alliance and pathetic restrictions from the e u.

Angling is better than politics, ban politics from angling.

Consumer of bass. where is the evidence that the u k bass stock need angling trust protection. Why won't you work with your peers instead of castigating them. They have the answer.

Recipie's for mullet stew more than welcomed.

Angling sanitation trust and kent and sussex sea anglers org delete's and blocks rsa's alternative opinion on their face book site. Although they claim to rep all.

new for 2014. where is the evidence that the south coast bream stock need the angling trust? Your campaign has no evidence. Why won't you work with your peers, the inshore under tens? As opposed to alienating them? Angling trust failed big time re bait digging, even fish legal attempted to intervene and failed, all for what, nothing.

Looks like the sea angling reps have been coerced by the ifca's to compose sea angling strategy's that the ifca's at some stage will look at drafting into legislation to manage the rsa, because they like wasting tax payers money. That's without asking the rsa btw. You know who you are..

I couldn't possibly comment.

No seriously, I'm not allowed to voice any public opinion with regard to any government policy in the runnup to the election.

No real issue with that but it did cause me to raise my eyebrows when the Whitehall mandarins decided to dub the period of enforced modesty "Purdah".

I kid you not.

"Democracy dies when the people wanting their government to take care of them outnumber those wanting to take care of themselves." - Author Unknown

it just about sums up the state of our country.

The quote assumes that "democracy" is a Good Thing - perhaps an unwarranted assumption.

You could say that "democracy" is a euphemism for mob rule.

Increasingly, our "elected representatives" are not there on merit, but as a result of a media-manipulated popularity poll. The majority are not always right ! (our present government is there because the majority either voted Labour or abstained)

Think about some of the excesses of "democracy" Adolf Hitler was originally "democratically elected"

Successful businesses are not run by democratic vote, nor are ships and airliners.

Nor are the internal structures of the armed services - admittedly, they are controlled by "democratically elected" politicians - at least until the demands of the politicians become so outrageous that the army takes control.

Nearer home, which is the better fishery - Wingham, run by a benevolent dictator (sorry Steve  ) or your local "democratic" angling club pond - pasties in there because Tom likes carp fishing, skimmers because Dick is a match fisher, and loads of goldfish hybrids bought because Harry thought they were crucians. ?

What DO I believe in ? Not "democracy" for a start. Meritocracy is more my line. We need leaders who can actually DO something outside politics, and have achieved leadership by proving they can do it better than anyone else.

When I took over the management of the fishing at Wotton Underwood, Mrs Brunner, (the owner of the estate) asked me if I was going to run the fisheries on a democratic basis. I told her that I wouldn't because I only believed in democracy if I wasn't in control.

All well and good but that does sound very close to:

"By rejecting the authority of the individual and replacing it by the numbers of some momentary mob, the parliamentary principle of majority rule sins against the basic aristocratic principle of Nature…"

Adolf Hitler, Mein Kampf, p. 81

Unfortunatly, the plebian masses may be undereducated and willfully uniformed but a democracy that derives it's basic mandates from their wishes is the best option we have.

So in our 3 party democracy 30% vote Labour(some hope  ) 30% vote Lberal Democrat (yes-I know ;) ) and 40% vote Tory.

The tories form the government and 60% of voters are not represented.

Majority rule?

AH but its all "democratic" even the losers in the other parties can stop anything worthwhile being done by the winners if they wish :D

if the party system was abolished it wouldn't be too bad a system ,at the moment your potential MP can stand on your doorstep agreeing with every thing you say ,boldly assure you "if they get in" everything you fear will be got rid off and promise black is white your needs will be met ,then once the buggers are in the party system takes over and your treated as a mug and everything you voted the creep in for is forgotten.

MPs only see whips and the trough once their foots in the door there's very few good mps who put their constituents first

Since when did democracy mean "majority rule"? Democracy means government by the people.

The problem isn't what people don't know, it's what they know that just ain't so.

Your absolutely right, but in a parliamentary democracy the major characteristic is taken to be majority rule.
