All out braid for trotting has it's advantages I guess but the downside is the 'bumping' off...Does Harrison GTi have a supposed fix for this then?

I think the GTI has a more forgiving nature in the tip, but with progressively more backbone as it bends that makes it less likely to bump. I use Fireline, and don't strike at all while trotting, just firmly lift into the fish, but this is sometimes not enough as the distance of trot increases. That's when the bumping starts... I also have a Greys prodigy which is good for dace and grayling etc and doesn't bump fish. However, although it will handle largeish chub etc., it lacks substance really. The ideal is therefore something in between. I believe that rod to be the GTI. Chris Plumb will go on about it for ages now.

Yup, recognised it instantly. I went back there the following weekend but didn't get anything like your perch, when the river's looking like that it doesn't matter though.

Oh yes it does !

...and as a check I showed the pic to Norma, who after checking what the diameter of the reel was, said "three to three and a half" straight away.

 

Shows the value of taking pictures of fish "in the net" with rod and reel, and avoids snide comments on how big the captors hands are!

 

(unless of course someone has made a 2" diameter centrepin especially for such shots :rolleyes::) )

 

That is a cracking fish, from a cracking venue - nice one, Arbo
