Just as an offshoot to the 'what scares you when nightfishing' thread which I have to admit is one of my favourites. I wanted to see who actually nightfishes alone and if you don't then what are your reasons. Just a bit of fun so be honest people. ;)

I have no problems with night fishing alone, although I am selective about the waters I will night fish on, generally I'm more looking for secure/safe parking than anything else.

The little "do-dad" wouldn't let me vote (?).

Trust me, I selected "are you mad?".

For the last 20 years or so night fishing has simply been way to stressful. I never did do what you guys would call night sessions (fish all night) very well. I always seemed to sell out for a good nights sleep.

In fact, my idea of "camping" is going to a three star hotel instead of a five star hotel.

That just about sums my attitude up - I will fish a lonely stream, pool or beach, no problem, but not where I have to leave the car in what I consider a vulnerable place.

I love fishing into the night and sometimes all night long on the river when I am with a friend or my brother but despite now being 25 I still don't have the balls to stay there on my own. Its ridiculous really but I always manage to wind myself up and spook myself. I think years of smoking certain things as a teenager may have a large part to play in that though ;) . Glad I don't still do that.

Actually planning a night on the river tomorrow night. B)

I voted no because the question was for rivers, I would have no problem with fishing lakes on my own.

Oddly I plan to night fish a river on my own later on in the year but its next to a lake that would have night anglers on it and so not really in the spirit of the question to say Yes.

Yeah oddly I too would have no issue with a lake. I think it is just the eerie nature of the river at night (and the thought of budgie emerging out of the water like in the pic from wingham  ) and knowing that if anything happens I have a good few fields to cross lol.
