Boat hire

i was looking at a website for the cost of a fishing permit and noticed in the boat hire part life jackets were an "optional extra" and cost £6 each.

i dont bother with boats(too expensive) hence im not so sure if this is a normal policy with other waters offering boat hire ?

Sorry

Anyone on a small boat (including yours Big Cod) should be WEARING a life jacket at all times when they are afloat. No exceptions.

Modern automatic life jackets are easy and comfortable to wear.

Just having them on the boat to meet requirements is not good enough. It's one of the reasons I don't fish from charter boats.

Let's agree to respect each others views, no matter how wrong yours may be.

Are they really optional or do you simply not have to pay the extra six quid if you are bringing your own ?

Don't agree, i feel more comfortable in a flotation suit as a life jacket can't keep you warm as well as afloat.

Free to choose apart from the ones where the trust poked their nose in. Common eel. tope. Bass and sea bream. All restricted.

New for 2016 TAT are the main instigators for the demise of the u k bass charter boat industry, where they went screaming off to parliament and for the first time assisting so called angling gurus set up bass take bans with the e u using rubbish exaggerated info collected by ices from anglers, they must be very proud.

Upgrade, the door has been closed with regards to anglers being linked to the e u superstate and the failed c f p. So TAT will no longer need to pay monies to the EAA anymore as that org is no longer relevant to the u k . Goodbye to the europeon anglers alliance and pathetic restrictions from the e u.

Angling is better than politics, ban politics from angling.

Consumer of bass. where is the evidence that the u k bass stock need angling trust protection. Why won't you work with your peers instead of castigating them. They have the answer.

Recipie's for mullet stew more than welcomed.

Angling sanitation trust and kent and sussex sea anglers org delete's and blocks rsa's alternative opinion on their face book site. Although they claim to rep all.

new for 2014. where is the evidence that the south coast bream stock need the angling trust? Your campaign has no evidence. Why won't you work with your peers, the inshore under tens? As opposed to alienating them? Angling trust failed big time re bait digging, even fish legal attempted to intervene and failed, all for what, nothing.

Looks like the sea angling reps have been coerced by the ifca's to compose sea angling strategy's that the ifca's at some stage will look at drafting into legislation to manage the rsa, because they like wasting tax payers money. That's without asking the rsa btw. You know who you are..

I had an argument with an old friend very recently over this, his position is that life jackets are a matter of personal choice, and making them compulsary is a soft PC move which infringes the individuas rights. I agree in principle, however always proivide guests on my boat with one (one of the modern auto ones you mention), I pointed out how selfish he is that he would subject me to having the very last view of him alive vanishing into the cold glacial waters. I became exhasperated and we parted on worse terms then ever before during out 38 year friendship.

if the individual is totally alone in the world, with no one to care whether they live or die then perhaps a life jacket is optinal?

When working and training rescue workers in the North Sea, driving Fast Rescue Boats we wore survival suits AND a life jacket. Why is that difficult?

Bouyancy aids do not turn you the right way up and keep your face out of the water.

I still see Kn*bs standing up casting fly rods in the middle of reservoirs or charter boats with not one person wearing a life jacket or immersion suit.

When the boat founders you don't have time to find one and put it on.

Ask someone to take a risk in their job and it is "no way am I doing that" and yet they are happy to do it for fun.

Problem is the RNLI have to wast time and resources searching for the body

how many dead rsa charter boat anglers wearing floatation suits have been pulled from the sea in the last 20 years by the RNLI? In particular because they were knocked out before falling in? Or is it an accident waiting to happen? Your last sentance, got anything to back that up with regards to my post?
