A serious question

I'm not trying to be funny or owt but I have a serious question.

 

Why does eating onions make you fart?

 

I had a supermarket curry for my tea and only an hour or so later started with the trouser coughs along with noxious fumes.

 

Please, this is a serious question I would like an answer for.

 

Tell you what though, it makes for a quiet and peaceful existence. The wife and kids left the room straight away.

I've got a mate who shall remain nameless, but, is fairly famous in our locale, when we finish fishing, its off to Stirling for a Kebab, it gets eaten, then (I kid you not)no more than 10 minutes later he's off, and the car windows are open.
