Haddock in a crisp batter with chips, a generous soaking with vinegar and more salt than you should eat in a month!

 

Oh, and a couple of large pickled onions.

 

Crabs are good too....

Plus been originally from Grimsby and although we're famous for catching cod you dont see it in the chippers its always haddock, as my old man says (who worked the trawlers for many a year) people who know fish ... eat haddock, those who dont, eat Cod.

I recently ate a Black Bream...was a gift from a mate :P .....nice....very nice in fact, easy to fillet,and skin,and take the bones out of too..Bass is nice ....as long as its cooked properly... :rolleyes: ...but still havent tasted anything to equal Haddock, or Mackeral fillets...sooperb...mackeral dipped in flour,then an egg/milk wash, and covered in Oatmeal, then grilled...tastes very sweet.......hmmmmmmmmmm....Mackerallllllllllllll......definately better than the Pike I tried once, and the Perch too :D:D

I eat quite a bit of fish - but nothing compared to my dad and some of my friends ... of the top of my head, it has to be a Herring done in any way ..... Salt Herring or Kippers come out tops though :) I catch plenty of Haddock, but Im not a big fan of them on the plate, though everyone I know loves them .... after the Herring it has to be Sword Fish, Bass, Bream, Hake, Megrim, Turbot, and Halibut.

 

Oh, yes I do like Haddock ...... when in Arbroath earlier this year got some Arbroath Smokies, they were fantastic. Bought 2 boxes of them - and gave a few out to some hardened fish eaters with toned palettes - all agreed the Arbroath Smokie is amazing.

ps: one of the old boys I know smokes Coalies and Pollack - they are lovely to eat also, very surprised when I had them, they were so good.

Mmmm, I love smoked fish. I used to work as a lab tech in a smoked salmon processing plant. Part of my work entailed testing smoked salmon for oil/salt/volatile nitrogen etc as well as taste, have to say however many of the sample batches had to be requested more than once after the original had been contaminated....ahem....or accidently eaten by a certain member of staff!!! :D

 

Smoked fish IS the food of the gods!

I have to agree with an earlier poster Dorado (Mahi Mahi), is the best I have ever tasted, mind you Dorada (Guilt Head Bream), runs it a close second.
