Still I don't understand the mentality of it, there must be other good fish in the water, possibly uncaught monster or not.

I doubt it. Every fish in there is very well known. I like to fish a venue where the potential is still a mystrey.

take a look at my blog

STEVE nice article,i know a carp lake,we fished last summer,we got out a whip and got some maggots and worms and startting catching small perch up to about 8oz,a few up to a pound followed, and on dusk a two pounder was caught(very damn impressive!),you see no one fished for these perch, its a speci carp water, plus i know there are a loy of gudgeon in this place...you think its worth a look.it is a bit textbook..no pressure..lots of prey...the other place i was looking at trying small river that in the past has produced fours,i really want to catch one now there my bogey fish -never caught a good one,so i shall read your 3 part article,on chasing old sargent stripey!and hopefully one or two will find its way to the net.

it was to do with your response that alibee was wrong on all accounts, my enquiry was really as to why she was wrong, the scinical side of me interpreted that as "two tone comes out more often than is reported, that she is a mug fish perhaps?

I assume, from your lack of comprehension, that I'm barking up the wrong tree.

As to "giving her some slack" i was again referring to the your response to allibee. i don't know her, but the response was on the level you and peter have been known to throw at each other (to my great amusement)on the basis that you are both thick skinned and have respect for the other, i was feeling somewhat paternalistic, my only concern was that alli didn't have the benefit of that past history.

not my place to but in, so i'm butting out.

Guest allibee

Hi Phil

It seems I didn't make myself clear in my post referred to, that I was talking about records in general ... and criterior for accepting records in general.

Two tone wasn't the subject. It was hypothetical fish caught by a hypothetical anglers on hypothetical waters in hypothetical circumstances.

I feel Poldark read it as me saying Two Tone was caught under all the circustances I described which is why he should know it wasn't because he was there ... I think that is what he means?

Obviously I didn't make myself clear enough for some readers, or those who didn't take in my earlier posts from which that one carried on.

No hard feelings here. The internet medium is ripe for misinterpretation ... nature of the beast, I'm afraid.

Thank you for your paternalness though :)

Right'o Phil, with you now.....The reason I assumed Alibee was referring to Two Tone was that he ended that particular post with a reference to "her", I therefore assumed that the previous words also referred to her (Two Tone).

Actually I couldn't give a toss what anyone thinks about me or anyone else fishing for known biggies, just think it a little sad that some feel they are able to comment on my chosen branch of angling.

But then I have done pretty much every sort of English fishing (sometimes quite successfully) and can see the merits in all aspects of our sport.

Sorry if this comes across a bit blunt but that is how I see the situation.
