Huge nest Den, i think it is a House Martins not a swallows, but looking at the almost man made bracket left hand side against the soffit it could be a nest box?

Didn't spot the bit by the side There is an almost identical one on the next set of windows, but to far away for me to see if there is a bracket there. I saw it being used a few weeks ago, plenty of Martins around then.

 

My neighbor on the other side used to have Martins nesting each year, but the decoraters cleaned all the old ones off and even though they tried again next year, no nests were completed, and they haven't tried again since, so it was a surprise when I spotted the ones in the pic.

Not my photo but thought this one was so remarkable that I should share it on this thread. This poor duck had the misfortune of getting too close to a snapping turtle. Not sure how it turned out, but I do know that they don't easily let go once they chomp down on something.
