Quite often for quick visit here I just view posts as a guest and only log on if I've something to say(as do a lot of others I suspect), but today it won't let me view anything unless I log on.

That sounds a bit strange......ive never had that problem in the past mind you i try not to log out now days as I'm useless with remembering all my passwords to get back onto sites!! lol

Crud control measure that was just started today. Guest should be able to see topic titles but not be able to open them to read without joining. If that isn't exactly what is happing in your case, let us know.

 

Along the same lines, the 'flood control' rules (software controls) have been modified. Previously you only had to wait 20 second after responding to a thread to post another response to that thread or to another one. The delay is now increased to 90 seconds. Note that this only affects how quickly you can post a response and won't affect opening another thread to read it.

I get pi55ed having to wait for 20 seconds, 90 seconds is gonna drop a few members who post a lot me thinks.

Newt, one disadvantage of flood control is that you can't e-mail a topic to more than one person without wasting a lot of time.

 

Is there a facility with this option to send a copy of such an e-mail to several people at once?

I think I've tripped over that in the past when I've posted something, spotted a mistake and tried immediately to edit my post.

That is exactly what I've got Newt.

 

However, someone has slipped through the net, just checked the *online users* and found this:-

It looks like they can see the topics, but they only see an error message and not the actual topic contents.
