Very sad for anyone to die so young, I only knew Andy from AN, and as others have said he held quite definite views and wasn't afraid to air them: always a refreshing breath of honesty.

Just got back from a week in the Northwest, so have only just seen this.

 

Andy was someone whose views on angling I greatly respected, and someone I hoped to meet at the waterside on one of my visits to Scotland. Alas, that will not happen.

 

There is not much I can say, except that Anglers Net will be the poorer for his absence. I will miss him, and I only "knew" him through his posts. My condolences to his family and friends, and especially to Andy_1984, as I know only too well what it is like to lose a good angling mate. The only consolation I can offer is that every time you catch a fish with the aid of a wrinkle that Andy Macfarlane taught you, remember him - it means that part of his legacy lives on. I think of my old mate the late Roger Standen every time I catch a decent perch.

That's very sad news. It was always a joy to read his posts and I would have loved to have met him in real life.

Wow, what a shock. I'm really sorry to hear this, Andy was always part of AN and a valuable member of the forum. Condolences to his family and friends.

And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music
