This is why I hate this expression 'Global Warming' peolple get the idea that this means that everywhere is just going to get a wee bit warmer. Global Climate Change is a better label. Some places may get much colder, some may get much warmer, but on average there will be an increase globally. Edited October 7, 2008 by corydoras

Richard Capper - You say the eath is warming up TOO quickly!! How quickly is that then? This earth has been trundling along for MILLIONS of years and has experienced Ice Ages, polution (foreign bodies - including asteroids - hitting the earth) warming etc. Mankind can only hurry it along by a couple of hundred at their worst!! Look at how the doom and gloom mercants work "the seas will rise by FEET and flood all the coastal areas - a statement last week (which did NOT make the front page), modifying it to INCHES!

I know that cows farting does a lot of damage - I wonder if Dynosaurs farted, and that was responsible for their demise!

they farted happily for a 160 million years

luckily for "global" warming 10,000 years ago other wise we would be part of europe (phew) must have been cars that did it then i suppose ?

there is no conclusive proof only supposition man is involved ,the earth maybe warming it does ,its done before, its got cold ,ice sheets have disappeared and reappeared ,its got blisteringly hot, its got extremely cold ,living things have flourished ,one time 60% (some say 90%) of all life totally died out ,the earths cycle does this ,did this and will do it in the future get used to it!

man cannot do a thing to stop these cycles just as we cannot stop the wind blowing.

el nino has stopped and started many times just as the gulf stream has ,they will again just as many times that is a fact.

calculate the volume of the Mediterranean sea ,if that haddent formed then the seas would already be far deeper than they are ,calculate the volume of the north sea that didnt exist 15,000 years ago ,why because the ice sheets melted this global warming has been going on since we lived here!!! if the sea rises by the largest guess then compared to the past its nothing!!!! yet man survived without the technology we have now!!! if you base your statistics on say 400 years ago they will appear to be rising abnormally but they fail to mention it was abnormally cold then just 2000 years ago it was hotter than it is now so based on that its approaching global normality!people are far to quick to jump on the band wagon without taking history into the maths ,they see only what may happen never what already has and indeed where the baselines of these scare stories are based ,if you base them on a far colder time the model shows were abnormaly hot if you base them on a hotter time we're cold!

the scientists know "research" = funding so bias their claims on the statistics that help them whether or not they are actually accurate in the earths timescale not the recent past!

i can predict far more accurately were going to get colder then warm up again ,its called winter!
