Fingers crossed!

Many of you will remember that our granddaughter, Amity, was born seven and a half months ago with a grossly enlarged kidney. The doctors wanted to put off doing an operation until she was older, but the kidney has got further enlarged. As a result she's being operated on tomorrow. The operation consists of cutting out part of a blocked tube to her bladder and also removing part of her kidney.

She's a little darling and barely stops smiling. I bet she's not smiling tomorrow though!

This is a picture I took of a contented Amity in her mother's arms a couple of weeks ago.

My thoughts are with you and your family. Kids are tougher than we think and I'm sure she will do fine, but it doesn't make the sick feeling go away, or the feeling that they somehow don't deserve it and you just wish you could go through it all for them.

Let's agree to respect each others views, no matter how wrong yours may be.

Steve , i would like to wish little Amity all the very best for the operation , but as has already been said, little toddlers are very resilient and have the rest of their lives to recuperate.

I know its hard to do , but , try not to dwell on it mate , she'll need all the smiley faces and support in the world when she comes out of the op' , so make sure you have plenty.

Carl.

Steve - our thoughts are with you and Peggy.

It is almost tougher when it is a grand than when it is one of your offspring.
