My personal rough estimate, and so called official numbers differ, in fact as its been seen on here various 'official' numbers vary a great deal. I would put it at between one, and one and a half million.

As usual those it doesn't affect, don't see a problem. No surprise really. Those who don't see a problem are usually either in a place that isn't greatly affected, are making money from it, are blinded by humanitarian issues, or too reliant on the reports from bias media.

I've just been watching newsnight and immigration and its effect on the coming EU confidence was the subject. Racism and xenophobia were words used pretty often, as usual. Its just a smoke screen to try and discredit anyone who has a genuine concern about uncontrolled immigration. Ask those people about housing, utilities, hospital and school places etc, that will be needed. We don't have enough housing to accommodate the present population, never mind any unknown numbers that decide to move here under free movement. I think that those who are in favour of free uncontrolled movement of people, are like those who over stock waters with carp. They seem to believe that the food and space increases to accommodate the numbers stocked.

There are many things to think about, not just what immigration does for the economy. An apparent plus can soon be made into a deficit when you look at the whole picture.

PS, I'm struggling using my phone to post, if I'm slow in replying, don't be surprised.

So it has doubled in two years. I think I'll move north. There must be a whole lotta fooking going on up there.

The problem isn't what people don't know, it's what they know that just ain't so.

You have about as much chance as you do with those Somali neighbours who won't talk to you.

I very much doubt it's anywhere near doubled in two years, in fact gozzer claimed it had doubled in 15 which is possible.

No idea where phone got his numbers unless he's mistaking leeds for the West Yorkshire urban area which does indeed have a population of roughly 1.8 million but also includes Bradford and Wakefield amongst other places.

All,

I confess - it was my first stop googling. I had little "real" interest other than I enjoyed Gozzer's post (just overlook his radical carp comments).

It's OK by me if you make Leeds any size you wish, permission granted.

Only the phones ability to read (ha ha ha) as your link clearly states leeds has a population of 780,000 and the West Yorkshire urban area one of 1.8 million (leeds is indeed part of this but so are the cities of Bradford and Wakefield) not That leeds has a population of 1.8 million as you posted.

It's a bit like me claiming New York city has a population of 19.5million when actually that's New York state the city has a population of roughly 8.5million.

Absolutely fantastic news for Britain ?? but ken can you explain exactly what brexit has anything to do with this ? To try and claim any glory with brexit with this contract is just laughable .?

And the real side of the glories brexit .

It has sweet bugger all to do with Brexit (Like much of the stuff you post) except tangentially, in that it demonstrates that we can secure global business outside the EU, but as you constantly seem to glory in running this country and it's industries down, I thought it would cheer you up knowing that we can do good.
