The new prices for EA rod licences have been revealed..


£30 for two rods, an increase of 11%, concessionary to rise to £20, and a new three rod licence costing £45? A one day licence will rise 60% to £6, an eight day pass rises to £12


Junior licence fees will be scrapped.



Suits me but I don't think it'll suit others.

I've never really believed anglers should be the ones picking up the bill to police our waters and clean up from others, some of whom that make vast profits while making our waters dirty.   At least

As i'm a bailiff I have no option but to get a licence...but if I wasn't then there's no way that I would get obu at all. I would never blame anyone for not having one as it's such a blatant stelth tax.

 

Now were constantly having the AT shoved down our throts also trying to get even more money out of us...what a crock of shyte!

If you are going to reform something why not do it properly and make people pay depending on how many rods they use? A simple mechanism where you pay a sliding scale, the more rods you use the more you pay. How does it make any sense to charge more to a 1 rod user? How can anyone come up with such rubbish, common sense would dictate keeping a 2 rod licence and offering a slightly cheaper 1 rod licence and a slightly more expensive 3 rod licence. Or am I missing something.

 

What about those who use 4 rods, do they now buy a 3 rod and a 2 rod licence? Has anyone even thought about that before pushing through changes.

Its expected ,do you know how much it costs for a boat and three "officers" to take every fish bar trout from the river here!

Its a bit like those that only fish rivers they pay 25% more in real terms and ofcourse as you say they generally only use one rod as well

I for one would like to know why they have gone up so much and what my money will be spent on. Presumably we'll get a comprehensive breakdown by way of an EA update?

Looks like I've been stiffed then. I’ve never really had a problem with funding those who regularly use two rods, I always viewed it as me choosing not to fully benefit from my license fee but to swallow an increase so that three rod users get a much better deal does irk me a bit.
