Yarp, the Solent never empties, a small proportion of it flows away, slightly higher than the volume of water entering from (such as) Medina and Southampton water. The majority goes out and comes back in again, hence burials at Sea are regulated and have been for aeons in Solent, have to take part in certain areas but still a proportion turn up back on beaches.

Most of the stuff in the press is crap! (excuse the pun) sewage discharge is far better now than it ever has been and the seas are certainly cleaner than when I was a kid. There is virtually no discharge into the Medina @ Fairlee now but some are noticing the amount of filter feeders in the river is highly diminished and are asking Southern Water to let some effluent in.

I think i would rather believe sail boarders then southern water lol never believe reports from the source of the problem .Usualy "improvement" means it doesnt stop but by extending the pipe its harder to see.Not having a boat since the 80's (moored in Pompey harbour) they may have removed more !umps but its not the lumps that are the problem its the crap they float out on.
