Has the list closed yet Steve? I am out with Leon on Thursday to see if the new hip is up to this fishing malarkey.

After a certain age, if you don't wake up aching in every joint, you are probably dead.

It hasn't even been opened yet, Tony! I'll do so about May 1st.

Nature has suddenly awoken!

Bright fresh leaves are uncurling and blossom is beginning to appear, the daffodils are out, I can actually feel the warmth of the sun, the birds are twittering happily away, and the air has that warm, sweet smell of Spring.

I bet the tench are stirring :)

I doubt I'll fish this year, but I'm really looking forward to this year's fish-in. The Wingham fish-in has taken the place of opening day for me. But with Peggy's BBQs it's even better!

I wonder what some lucky ANers will catch this year...?

I just hope that people get a chance to catch some proper fish, without all those nuisance 7 and 8lb tench getting in the way ;)

Hope your hips OK Tony

I am going out this weekend to see if my neck is up to it. They have let me take my collar off to see how it goes. :D

Let's agree to respect each others views, no matter how wrong yours may be.

Yesterday the Coarse Lake produced an 8-06 tench. It was covered with leeches and so had only just woken up. It was long and slim after the winter, and being one of the light green ones and virtually unmarked is almost certainly one that was born at Wingham. It can therefore be no more than 12 years old so hopefully has another 3 years of growth in length, before fattening up. Of course it'll fatten up before the Fish-In as it'll now get its head down.

The previous day the Carp Lake threw up a new 40lber, the fourth fish that has reached this weight. This was a mirror, although one of the forties is a common.

Steve, is that the first Tench out of your water this year ? What a crumpin fish for so early on in the year, just think what it'll weigh in at in a couple of months........ :o . I reckon you've got some tench sailing around in Wingham that would surprise even yourself !
