Copeton Dam in northern New South Wales is almost as big as Oroville, well, 11,000 acres to 15,000 acres and in the big drought of 1983/5 it fell to 3% capacity. I went there at its lowest level and my sounder still recorded 134 ft in one spot.

Walked one stretch and found 29 lures in the space of 2 hours!

All,

And that's only part of the problem. Fully one half our water comes from underground aquifers. 500 meter wells are now 1000 meter wells. When the wells run dry the chit will really hit the fan.

Most of Birmingham's water comes from Wales. We don't have droughts.

Very thought-provoking - you would have been welcome to some of the rain I endured whilst fishing yesterday morning.

Remember tench fishing in the rain in the UK ? This was ten times worse (see Roach, rain. etc on coarse forum)

I remember it well. In fact, I remember lots of rainy occasions during our (much too short) visit and was never sure if we'd simply arrived during the UK rainy season or if you folks are simply blessed with lots of the wet stuff. :D :D

Where I live we are blessed with a little too much of the wet stuff it dumps on us usually before it crosses the Pennines where it dumps some on those people who live on the wrong side of the hill :icecream:

Theres going to be jippy (used the word all my life but found i had to look it up to spell it) tummies in the morning !

I remember being in lewisham in the early? Sixties and felt the ground rumble and suddenly a manhole cover blew out on a 6ft column of water the water rose very fast ,forget what happened according to the press i was on my way back home to bromley

We never went there often we were warned of the residents (blacks) ofcourse back then you rarely saw one so they were treated with suspicion and a great deal racism went on ,ten years later i got the train from brixton and the tide had turned ,now you dont take a second glance
