  1. http://www.chinauniquetour.com/arts.asp?id=808 Squirrel-shaped Mandarin Fish - often made with a Carp of about 4Lb yummy! The Chinese have a proverb for foody stuff, "If it moves - Cook it and Eat it, If it don't move - Just Eat it" Would you eat sustainably farmed Dolphin or whale - now that's a goody?

    HAVE A LAUGH

Kylie, Elton John and Robbie Williams are walking down a street. Poor little Kylie trips over and ends up with her head stuck in some railings and her pert arse in the air. "Blimy" says Robbie - I'll have me some of that! He pulls her tiny pants to one side and shags her senseless - (well - you would wouldn't you??) Robbie - satisfied grin on his face stands back and says 'Your turn now Elton' Poor old Elton starts crying 'Whats the matter Elton me old mate?' says Robbie . . . . 'Oh Robbie - I can't get me big old head in the railings' sobs Elton.....
  3. Jim mate - cheap bulbs is just that - cheap and nasty, quality makes will last several years. You can get special dimmers and special bulbs for dimmers - although I'd suggest low volt halogen if you want to dim them as they seem to give the nicest light and last reasonably long. As for Flou tubes causing problems, most old fittings used cruddy switchgear (starters and ballasts etc) which can give rise to flickering and be a fire hazzard. New electronic switchgear and light fittings are much better. If you use computers at work and have ghastly flou tubes above request they be changed to cat 2 luminaries - these have reflector blades on them that chop up the light and make it go sideways as well as down - this reduces glare on your VDU.
  4. Been a few 'Stigs' Elton. First Stig 'The Black Stig' was Perry Macarthy, ex F1 and Various - damm funny bloke to - his book 'Flat out Flat Broke' is great. (Been a girl stigette too) Perry was not sure who was 'Stigging' at present when I met him in November - got 2 free signed copies of his book too, GF flogged one on ebay for £40!!!! Must admit - TopGear is a tad too silly most weeks for me now, but still watchable - just.
  5. Resurrected this as I was lucky enough to be given some tickets to see Michael Buble a few weeks ago. (The near riot for his tickets sort of missed me last spring - but when I was given some by a pal who had double booked a cruise for the same week I checked on Ebay! - glad I didn't cash in tho) 'Oh come on Tog, MOR or what' I hear you cry? Maybe - but he is the slickest performer I have ever seen - makes me wonder now what shows the Deano, Sammy and Sinatra fans enjoyed? Yep - I would say he is the best live singer I have ever heard - he's better live than on CD! Showmanship that was only bettered than Freddie in his prime and great patter and interaction - amazing presence for a chap so young. Anywhos - If you get the chance, go and see this chap live before he's so huge he only does stadia. (And - It's a heck of a good brownie earner with the FPO) BTW - another brownie earner for you, Micheal Bolton (summat about them MB initials?) is on tour next Autumn, pair of tickets for the BIC was FPO's fav xmas surprise, you may not like 'his thang' but your FPO probably does, - expect a damp evening;).

  8. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/essex/6997784.stm Blimy, near miss for Dave Richards too
  9. Terrible news, very reminiscent of Bertie Fishers demise a few years back - think they both flew the same type of chopper?
  10. I find the whole camo thing rather well 'camp'! Went to a 'camo' themed party a few weeks back, lots of camouflage nets strung about, camo party balloons, inflatables and an old Ack Ack gun for the kids to play on. But come the wee small hours and lots of blokes were dancing about to the village people in camo T shirts and combat pants....Hmmmmmm - (mind you we were near Brighton;) And the GF's far too tight camo top and shorts were excellent ;) I'm of the 'worn it for ages' camp, try to be 'discrete' bankside, but if I'm in gortex its because its excellent stuff for what we do rather than a tackle tart fashion statement.
  11. my favorite Simpsons episode is the 'RV' one, http://www.snpp.com/episodes/7G09.html "This specimen is either a below-average human being or a brilliant beast"
  12. wot - no ejector seats! Expensive afternoon for some there..........
  13. At least Browns debacle with this PPP is out in the open now - and once again red Ken was right! blimy me agreeing wiv him!! Odd - cos i'm a 'right of center' type mainly - but I do think 'big stuff' should be owned / run by govmt: Gas, Leccy, Water, public transport etc - should'nt be arsed about with by asset stripping co's who don't care what happens to their workers once they've looted the pension funds and sold off the land. The Issue I assume the RMT is making - is that this PPP was 'doomed', Robber Brown is to blame and it's his job to fix it? And of course the whole PPP thing is a gaping sink hole for our taxes (and our children's), I could make a good fist of a lot of stuff if I borrowed tons of money with no plans to repay it..........
  14. Well, If I had been working for a half decent publicy owned company for many years, (with all the security that working for a govmt gives you). Was hijacked by Mr Brown and one of his PPP pirates who pay f'all into my pension and milk the co of millions while sucking at the taxpayers nipple and then decided to throw in the towel cos 'it's too hard' leaving me looking at a barren retirement I'd be a tad peeved as well.
  15. Spent the weekend down in West Sussex under Bury hill, a popular haunt of bikers. The speeding (50 mph limit) bikes started at about 7am, many doing well over the ton - then the police helicopter started to buzz overhead. Seems the fuzz monitor the loonies from overhead and then have a posse of their own bikes dotted about to dish the tickets - I saw 5 of them waiting in a nearby layby. Anywhos' I had to cross the A29 in order to get from the village church to a farm, no bikes in sight (and I had a good view) as I pulled out then two mentals passed me on the wrong side of some bollards before I'd got upto 30, both doing best part of a 100. Of course had one of the prats hit me it I would have been another 'careless car driver'...... Locals claim a few of them remove themselves from the gene pool every summer and I don't doubt it, just why should law abiding road users should fund the scrapping up of these morons is beyond me.
  16. have you checked its not just a bad Coax patch lead to the splitter? seems cable guys have weak paws and cant do them coax's very well, often leave the screen iffy or don't even push the connector in fully. Yep Virgin should give you a free new cable modem anywhos. - as far as I'm aware you don't own it.
  17. Confucius: He says man who cooks carrots and pees in same pot has no manners.
  18. http://www.naturaldeath.org.uk/ have loads of info on 'green burials' and the like. Interesting fact - when you die your folks 'own' your body after death and can do with it what they wish. Your kin do not have to carry out your 'last wishes' - so make sure you tell as many folks as possible what you wish and stick it in your will that they get nowt if they don't do it! Most angling clubs and such have there own regs regarding scattering, and I'd agree that you may want to mix in some crumb mix or similar to prevent the ashes just laying on the surface - again running water is best. Another popular practice is to scatter at a favored fishing spot - on the bank or under a nearby tree the angler used to shelter under. Me, I've a spot on top of a hill overlooking a beautiful Hampshire chalkstream and a nice rowan planned - and less than half the cost of a cremation.
  19. The trick with the 'magic roundabout' is to go the 'wrong way' round it, Seems few do this, therefore the contra rotating center island route is much quicker. Go right at the first mini roundabout, then left left left (the 'wrong way' round the center) until you reach your exit roundabout where you do a right. What's real odd about this is that even if your exit is at 10 or 11 O'Clock to your entry it is often still quicker the wrong way?
  20. scruffy works for me to, all flies catch best once they've been chewed a bit. Half the fun of fly fishing is 'rolling your own', some of us are even known to take a mini tying kit bankside to rattle off a flying ant, tups or or sawer bug while the fish rise.
  21. Paid mine by online banking - less the £4.50, sent them a letter saying they can pay 'BT Payments ltd' if they like, as I don't have any contract with said company I wont! Asked them to send me a copy the contract I had signed which allows them to ask a separate company to bill me? be interesting as it must be 25 years since I got my phone line from them.
  22. Spent my 5th birthday in hospital with Meningitis Ken, was real sick for a while but no lasting effects, I'm sure my daftness is genetic or more due to copious amounts of watercress in my youth. Thinking of your family and Brandon - keep your chin up.
  23. Well, made me chuckle anywhos: Have a mate who's uncle is a Lawer, Mr Cheethams his name........ must be hundreds of em out there? Of course you could say most family names have a bit of ND about them - but I suppose its the unintentional funny ones that count! Dr Doctor etc all rather pythonesque or summat out of the Two Ronnies.....
  24. Hmmmm? Well - assuming it is a normal 'electric' shower and not just a pumped mixer shower: Wylex B40 is a MCB type trip, R40 would be a rewireable fuse - & not a std size?? If the B40 on the consumer unit has tripped it should have its reset blade down? You can have these showing ON when they are OFF - the blade stays up, you need to flick it off and on again to reset it. Neither of these is correct for a shower installation that should have its own RCB / RCCD 'earth leakage' trip and be of the correct size to suit the KW rating of your shower. You also mention a 'switch' in your airing cupboard? (with a neon indicator?), this is most likely to be a 20A type fuse spur, again not correct for a shower.(correct for an immersion heater) I would agree with AJ that your airing cupboard switch unit is dead. Because its the wrong thing to use! Looking at the information you've given us:- I'd recommend you get a competent person to have a gander - I think your 'local' (airing cupboard) switch is seriously underrated, most likely your cable is therefore also undersize and you should have a 2 pole isolating 45A RCD/RCCD on the circuit in your consumer unit. Disclaimer: Never muck about with leccy unless you are sure you have isolated the device and have the fuse in your pocket! (also make sure your 'mate' does not have a spare fuse in his pocket!!!) Disclaimer II: Under the new 'part P' regs any mucking about with leccy in bathrooms (and kitchens and outside) is notifiable unless you are replacing like with like - and you would need to inform your planning dept if you want to replace the wiring or upgrade the power rating to the shower - or get a sparks in who has 'part p' to do / inspect the work. I had a similar occurrence some 5 years back - my leccy shower tripped the MCB on consumer unit, when I tried to reset it there was a big flash from MCB and it went back off - upon inspecting the shower I found the incoming cable's earth was not correctly sheathed and had come loose and touched the LIVE terminal inside the shower blowing it off the moulding. Don't like to think what may have happened had the trip not gone and someone touched the output pipe! I replaced the electric shower, fitted 10mm sq cable, 45A MK 'quality' pull switch and fitted a 2 pole 45A RCD/MCCB rated to suit the new shower. I have since checked various parts of the leccy installation in my house which was allegedly rewired by the electric co in the 90's, most of it was sub standard - some of it downright dodgy! - if in doubt get a competent person to check it out...... No - I'm not a 'sparky' by trade (somewhat overqualified!), but do a heck of a lot of electrical engineering.
