well no candidate yet for an "england" patron ,even Churchill cannot fill the spot as ofcourse his mum was a bit of a slapper and was a yank so he was only half English :D

who can be our real ST George?

"What a load of old tosh Ken. The story about St George slaying the dragon is from Libya, not from Europe and definately not from England. You lot don't DESERVE St George as your Patron Saint. A red cross on a white ground is about the only thing most of you do know about Saint George."

i think i alluded to the fact there's little in ST George and England

St George is a real enough historical figure. When we celebrate St Georges Day we are remembering the day he was beheaded. 23 April 303. But he wasn't English, he wasn't even European. I recon the dragon story is an allegory with the Dragon representing Satan and the Princess the Christian Church or it could be a rehash of Perseus and Andromeda.

The problem isn't what people don't know, it's what they know that just ain't so.

Do I detect a SoH failure ?

The version of the story that i was taught in primary school very definatly took place in England and that;s what I took the mic out of.

OK, so I didn't bother to check Wicki - so what ?

You lot don't DESERVE St George as your Patron Saint. A red cross on a white ground is about the only thing most of you do know about Saint George.

Given that you don't believe in the supernatural, exactly what benefits would a staint's patronage bestow that would make it worth my while to seek to demonstrate that I DESERVE it ?

Blimey, at last a National acceptance of our patron saint's day (regardless of where he came from) and everybody's bickering!

A damned fine excuse to go and have a few beers in the local (even some patriotically named beers for the occasion!) all served up with a bit of fancy dress and, as Vagabond, a plate of stew!

I enjoyed it!

 Wont make the same mistake with the union flag.

Some of us knew exactly what you ment Ziggs. Now where is that flea bitten dog, must do some nit picking.

Free to choose apart from the ones where the trust poked their nose in. Common eel. tope. Bass and sea bream. All restricted.

New for 2016 TAT are the main instigators for the demise of the u k bass charter boat industry, where they went screaming off to parliament and for the first time assisting so called angling gurus set up bass take bans with the e u using rubbish exaggerated info collected by ices from anglers, they must be very proud.

Upgrade, the door has been closed with regards to anglers being linked to the e u superstate and the failed c f p. So TAT will no longer need to pay monies to the EAA anymore as that org is no longer relevant to the u k . Goodbye to the europeon anglers alliance and pathetic restrictions from the e u.

Angling is better than politics, ban politics from angling.

Consumer of bass. where is the evidence that the u k bass stock need angling trust protection. Why won't you work with your peers instead of castigating them. They have the answer.

Recipie's for mullet stew more than welcomed.

Angling sanitation trust and kent and sussex sea anglers org delete's and blocks rsa's alternative opinion on their face book site. Although they claim to rep all.

new for 2014. where is the evidence that the south coast bream stock need the angling trust? Your campaign has no evidence. Why won't you work with your peers, the inshore under tens? As opposed to alienating them? Angling trust failed big time re bait digging, even fish legal attempted to intervene and failed, all for what, nothing.

Looks like the sea angling reps have been coerced by the ifca's to compose sea angling strategy's that the ifca's at some stage will look at drafting into legislation to manage the rsa, because they like wasting tax payers money. That's without asking the rsa btw. You know who you are..
