"Anglers face prosecution" - BBC

I said this before . . read Orwells "1984", plus remember we have a Labour government . . "Animal farm".

No party is perfect, but a condition of government seems a need to throw common sense out of the window.

Peter Waller - O.K. Maggie's not my favourite person either BUT Mr. Bliar has lied to involve us in a war we didn't want because the other country wasn't run like ours is. And look what's happened - more people have been killed in this so called "liberation" war than were killed prior AND this war is still going on and I personally suspect it will go on for quite some time yet and at the cost of young British lives!

Errr kleinboet - if you consider local folks who have died by violence as a direct result of the previous leader's action to be people then I think your numbers are wrong.

OTOH, if "removed a non-PC term" are non-people then you are certainly correct.

edit note: removed a word that might cause Elton to catch some flack. Sorry about that folks. I'll also be bleeping it in any reply posts in the thread. I just love these PC days. I do, I really, really, really do. - Newt :D

In Australia '***' is slang for germ/virus.

Having arrived in Australia, not long previously, and found myself an office job, it was a bit disconcerting to be told by an attractive female colleauge that she wasn't feeling too well after having been in bed with a *** all weekend!

(My next culturally inspired source of embarrassment was when she asked me for some sticky tape, only she didn't say 'sticky tape'!)

edit note - just me doing more cleaning. Even the germ/virus community must remain PC. Newt

Dear Fenders,

I'm actually in favour of binge drinking. So long as the time lapse between binges lasts for no more than four hours.

4X4's? Damned contraptions. Most of em wouldn't get two yards past the field gate before some poor sod in a Mondeo had to go and tow em out. Anyway, most Freelanders only go to school and back or to the hairdressers.

As for this government being populist Fenders? Not where I live they ain't!! Labour candidates brave enough come canvasing in armoured trucks whilst our Tory MP comes around on foot being presented with braces of pheasant and wedges of stilton cheese. And the chap actually does great things for his constituents AND tells the truth.

The conkers issue is very worrying though. Any chance of the SAA being granted a meeting with the Ministry of Conkers so that this awfull mess can be cleared up??

Regards,

Lee.

Andrew Boyd hit the nail right on the head: life under Blair is Orwellian. Our freedom to live our lives the way we feel fit is being eroded insidiously.

I've nothing against Socialism. But Blair has nothing to do with Socialism. His Government is arrogant and wants to tell us all how we should live our lives.

The foxhunting issue proved that the Government will use bullyboy tactics to get what it wants. A majority don't like it, so the minority that do lose their freedom to do what they want to do.

Whether you appreciate hunting or not - I don't, incidentally - it's the principle that counts.

Where has tolerance gone?

So, let's look at angling. Say there's four million anglers in the UK. That means there's nearly 60 million non-anglers. Do you think we stand a chance if the Government decides to either ban angling or make it virtually impossible, through legislation, for us to continue? It has already happened in Germany.

Now, binge drinking. Young people have been doing it for hundreds of years. It's a rites of passage thing. It's nothing new. Alcohol is one of life's pleasures. And once kids learn not to abuse it, they grow out of binge drinking - or, at least, most of them. It's their RIGHT to learn. It certainly doesn't require the interference of the Government.

4x4s: I drive one because it suits my lifestyle. Many Labour and Lib Dem politically-correct politicians want them banned, for no other reason than the fact they don't like the look of them. If some mum feels safer taking her kids to school in a big 4x4, so what? Her choice maybe wrong, but it's HER choice... her right to make her own decision, whether it's sensible or not. Nanny State should keep its meddling nose out of her business.

Listen, I can rant on this and many other similar issues for hours. But I won't bore you further.

Just one bit of advice: watch your backs. Because Blair and his interfering cronies will stick a knife in if it suits them.

Oh, and Peter Waller: the combined sleaze of all Tory Governments past cannot compare with the sleaze of the current crowd... who are so arrogant they feel sure they'll get away with it.

Be very scared.

Fenboy
