How much do you pay for a pint?

My village local I pay £2.55 for a pint of Guinness which I thought was the norm.

Last night however I got dragged into Taunton and did a few pubs and the most I paid was £2.00

The pub we ended up in it was £1.50 and was open until 2am - I couldn't beleive it.Run of the mill lagers were a pound a pint. These prices apply every night after 10.30.BTW this is not a Wetherspoons pub either, it had music and was kicking.

This to me was a bit of an eye opener.

How much do you pay for a pint where you live?

Cheers.

HB.

In the local i drink tetleys and its just gone up 10p to £1.87 i think, when i go into town its about £1.15 for a crappy pint of smooth john smiths at the wetherspoons, then when we move onto a club we either drink Vodka coke, Which i paid £4 for a double of the other night, boddingtons, £2.20, Diesel (boddingtons, lager and blackcurrent) which is a pound in happy hour and on sundays and £2 normally. I would say £2.20 is average for a pint of guinnes.

Nothing! I let somebody else pay!

What does Guinness taste like anyway?

I suppose lemonade and blackcurrent is even more expensive!!

when i used to realy drink (i rarely do now) it was usually home brew ,we started on the tinned lagers and bitters then the cider ,in the end we REALY home brewed the only bought ingrediants being sugar and a special mix of yeast we concocted .

well really we fermented (incase any hardened home brewers here) any apples we could find ,every batch was different (different assortment of apples) if the batch wasnt up to speck it was double distilled to make our (then) famouse "el slurpo" the good batches being stocked for later use in the year .

we used to smuggle a bottle of "el slurpo"into the pub ,buy a pint of cider and go home wrecked :)

the price of a pint then was 80p for a bulmers traditional from the cask ,but then it was a few years ago :D

i am not condoning home distilation it was illegal then as it is now ,none was sold (so no tax evation),and it is always dangerous to distill ,so much so you could lose your eyesight unless the temperature is precise

Is that pup still in Huish Episcopi, or was it Kingsbury Episcopi (more villages with silly names!) that has a bar without a bar, more like someones front room? And if you havent tried it try the cider from Burrows Hill (Kingsbury Episcopi I think) It really is very good!

Dan, the pub in Huish Episcopi is still there alright.I actually live in Huish so its just down the road from me.Its officially called the Rose & Crown but is known better as 'Elis'

As for Burrow Hill cider, yes I've tried and had my fair share.Agreed it is nice, I don't drink it these days although I do have a pint of the mulled stuff when I go to Glastonbury Festival.

Cheers.
