There's two shops I get mine from, both charge £1 a pint, and in both the maggots are just about perfect. Freshly riddled, clean and with a good big feeding spot just as Dan stated....

There's another place I have to pass to get to most venues, i'll try them. I went out today, caught two decent Bream on float. I can never get more than one at a time though, you usually get a few don't you because they move in shoals? I changed to feeder a bit later....loads of bites but I couldn't hook them, the maggots were always sucked and pulled. What could be wrong? Feeder too heavy perhaps?

£1 a pint? Bloody hell, that's cheap. £2.40 up here.

Well, I pay £2.60 a pint here in Cheltenham.

But why are we worried about price? Where else are you going to get a whole days enjoyment for the price you pay!!

Is there a bit of a North/South divide thing going on here? Most places down south seem to charge around the £3 mark a pint. Are all the £1 places further north than Birmingham?

I paid £3.50 a pint in London today. I'll spare their blushes and won't name them because they are bloody good maggots and a great tackle shop with friendly and helpful staff. But, like most things in London, a darn site more expensive than anything north of Watford...

The worst thing I ever see anglers put in their maggots is flour or crumb groundbait..

Why is that bad? I got somone to pick me up a pint from the shop yesterday, I got them in a wet mess. I put in 3 handfuls of brown crumb. I sed most of them this evening. What are the implications of my actions?
