I woke up this morning to be greeted by perfect calm, no wind, no rain just lots and lots of......

Snow!

Correct me if I'm wrong but is that what you call a "lot" of snow. Looks like a think frost to me - LOL.

Well our bosses let us go early since half the roads were closed and traffic was bound to be bad, so I did as I was told :D Took about 10 mins to get a few hundred yards then pretty much all clear all the way, just had to dodge the odd overhanging tree or big branch.

Actually got home quite early, had time to post a parcel and then went to look at the damage; Fence is still standing (well as much as it was after last time anyway). Thought I saw a loose tile so walked backwards to get a better view - forgot I've got a pond though

I'm almost dry now, just got some clothes and one shoe on the radiator.

Huge - the 'down under' crowd may sound like they are poking fun at the UK weather just now but in reality, they envy you the excitement.

You just got to laugh though Newt, here we are complaining after what, how many months since the hurricane hit Mississippi (did I spell that right, I think that's one of those words you can never spell right!)

As for the "down under crew" grass, MIGHT, seem greener on the other side of the fence but I would sacrifice my Mother-in-Law to be on THAT fishing trip with Clifftop's nipper

Oh wait a sec, darn, I would probably sacrifice my Mother-in-Law to blank with Ziggy but you know what I mean :wallbash:

At the time (about 9am) it wasn't a lot of snow, but it kept on going till about 1pm so ended up a nice covering (enough for a snowman!), then it all started melting this afternoon :(

Still, my daughter loved it even though it was going slushy. I thought about it and she's probably not seen snow more than twice in her life so it was a realy exciting for her.

i went to get a prescription ,on the turn into one lane a 4x4 driver flagged me down and told me the lane was blocked by fallen trees and was impassable.

i thanked him then carried on ....yep 3 trees were across the road ,i hopped over one ,went under one and sqeezed between the rootball and fence on the last one.

on the way back i had to offroad around a fresh one ,a honda 90 isnt a 4x4 but it can go places 4x4' cant ,theres a difference to "impassable" to me and others points of view.

Hurtled down to the lake this morning...didn't want to hurtle, but with the wind up my tail I had no option :)

Wind was picking up the surface of the lake and carrying it out up the banks, so I fished from the back of the van (useful things vans) I hurled a feeder down wind, it went like a zeppelin about 100yds, right on the money :)

Huge undertow so had to use heaviest bobbins to keep in touch with feeder, and switched off alarms to stop persistant bleeping.

About 2pm the LH rod pulled round and I was in......a few seconds after 2pm, I was out.........................

Back for more tomorrow, I love a big warm wind in the winter :)

no such luck for me ,got soaked and covered in mud and slime wed morning having the annual pond clearup and burning and tommorrow morning another one.

trouble is with all the frith coming down all the bank we cleared now looks as if we havent.

2 extra fallen trees to hack at tommorow (well at 1.30 today anyway) before we can even get to the path to do the other half of the bank.

stuff anglers never see when they grumble at having to show their permits.

worth it all just for the bonfire to steam the water out of your trousers whilst trying to roll a fag on damp fagpapers and discover the energy giving sugar in your tea was forgotten

Hiya,

had a light dusting of snow here this morning, but when i got to work I was informed one of our mobile runs was having problems in Cumbernauld.. there was over 3" of snow :)

So it was off out to assist the run in the 4 x 4 to make sure the clients got the service :)

was great being paid to play in the snow with a 4 x 4 :D :D
