Mine's started telling lies now as well - it thinks it just loaded this page in - "Exec. Time: 10.3616" - it didn't, I timed it to over 50 seconds.

I'll try turning off Java sometime in the next couple of days, I can see that that might cause problems with other sites though - is there any way to turn it off on just one site?

the exec time is only from the moment you make a connection to the site to the time the page loaded. the first 40 seconds would be while your browser is still trying to establish a connection to anglers net.

might only pick up an extra 2-3 seconds disabling java. not worthwhile imo.

if you want to disable java to one site specifically theres a plugin called NoScript.

p.s.

ping is consistently around 150ms

a decent average ping of 30ms is good

so. Eltons host is crap imo. if this is a dedicated server id seriously be considering moving lads (Elton that is, to a new host)

Na, the web site either needs refreshing, lots of the add links are no longer available, What's makes a host go down hill?

Free to choose apart from the ones where the trust poked their nose in. Common eel. tope. Bass and sea bream. All restricted.

New for 2016 TAT are the main instigators for the demise of the u k bass charter boat industry, where they went screaming off to parliament and for the first time assisting so called angling gurus set up bass take bans with the e u using rubbish exaggerated info collected by ices from anglers, they must be very proud.

Upgrade, the door has been closed with regards to anglers being linked to the e u superstate and the failed c f p. So TAT will no longer need to pay monies to the EAA anymore as that org is no longer relevant to the u k . Goodbye to the europeon anglers alliance and pathetic restrictions from the e u.

Angling is better than politics, ban politics from angling.

Consumer of bass. where is the evidence that the u k bass stock need angling trust protection. Why won't you work with your peers instead of castigating them. They have the answer.

Recipie's for mullet stew more than welcomed.

Angling sanitation trust and kent and sussex sea anglers org delete's and blocks rsa's alternative opinion on their face book site. Although they claim to rep all.

new for 2014. where is the evidence that the south coast bream stock need the angling trust? Your campaign has no evidence. Why won't you work with your peers, the inshore under tens? As opposed to alienating them? Angling trust failed big time re bait digging, even fish legal attempted to intervene and failed, all for what, nothing.

Looks like the sea angling reps have been coerced by the ifca's to compose sea angling strategy's that the ifca's at some stage will look at drafting into legislation to manage the rsa, because they like wasting tax payers money. That's without asking the rsa btw. You know who you are..

OK, cheers, that explains that.

I've already got NoScript installed and in operation, so have tried disabling all scripts on AN and as you say there's very little difference.

perhaps maintaining it is more than its income and its being allowed to die a natural death although a fully operating site would be worth selling than a defunct one

Strange ,first time 5.5 seconds ,second time 104 seconds ,perhaps its my blistering 1mb download which in real terms is four miles a fortnight

probably nowt to do with your speed chesters, ive a reliable 1.8mbps download on the majority of websites I visit. as for maintenance, its not that hard if im honest, people think its a constant battle maintaining a site like you need to pull levers and switches and be on it almost constantly like its powered by a steam engine.

havnt noticed if the site goes down at 1am anymore but the regularity of it made me think it was automated database maintenance (defrag of the db for want of a better word)

often, these things can be done in no more than 3-4 clicks. A-N just seems to be bogged down with java and other stat/tracking related stuff or a shitty server or both.

either way its pretty **** poor for what looks like a dedicated server (not sharing resources with other websites)

Andy I have a constant 30Mb connection and it is slow sometimes.

The problem isn't what people don't know, it's what they know that just ain't so.

Been of line with PC problems, I've been looking in on my phone, but not able to post. Just bought a new lap top, and trying to post, but first three attempts were fruitless, even after waiting a couple of minutes.

Trying again.

Just noticed the time at bottom of page is about 6mins slow, I wonder if that could be causing the delay in some posts?

Here goes

John.

Angling is more than just catching fish, if it wasn't it would just be called 'catching'......... John
