Believe NOTHING anyones says or writes unless you witness it yourself and even then your eyes can deceive you

None of this "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" crap it just means i have at least two enemies!

There is only one opinion i listen to ,its mine and its ALWAYS right even when its wrong

Its far easier to curse the darkness than light one candle

Mathew 4:19

Grangers law : anything i say will  turn out the opposite or not happen at all!

a freezer thingy ,we have one in our house ,the other box a fridge thingy does sort of watery ice cubes ,these arnt as good as the hard ones but you can convert them by taking them out of the fridgy thing and placing them in the freezy thing ,on the other hand drinking a pint of lager from the freezery thing takes longer than the fridgy manipulated one although its no good as a club or other form of defence as is the freezery version

Thanks for the support chaps, but hopefully they will put it in the mag...the cuts were really horrific, they looked much worse than in the pics. And from what I have seen here, they were caused fairly recently, and that fish was not alone,Davy having caught another of the same weight later on. I have been told in the past about anglers cutting the nose off Dogfish (thats where there sensory systems are)and having a laugh watching them swim about aimlessly,as they cant navigate. I havent seen this, but was told about it a while ago, by a friend who had no reason to lie.Makes me sick....

I think before we get to moralistic we perhaps should look at our selves.

Some people even hit a fish over the head with a lead filled stick and throw it writhing into a bag, and then cook it and eat it.

I know, takes some believing doesn't it. At least back in the sea, the Skate had chance to recover

Rob I don't see how anyone could frown at catching a fish of a lifetime...Thanks to Davy I caught my first skate a few weeks ago and the memory will stay with me forever.. :) I suppose someone could of been Tope fishing and hooked it by mistake but a ton up skate must be better than any tope....Lee

Lee Have you ever had a 40lb plus male Tope on 6-12 lb tackle?

If not I suspect you would change your mind.

A Tope pack in a feeding frenzy is a pure frantic adrenaline buzz, whereas a skate at best of times is just hardwork

at least if a fish is despatched its eaten, end of story...mutilating a fish or any other creature for some odd purpose or for fun is disgusting. Either fish to put it back in the best condition possible or kill it and eat it. Anything else is for pricks.
