It was pouring rain and one downpipe was blocked, so I knelt down and put my hand in the bottom of the downpipe to clean it of dead leaves from the schotia tree...As I was cleaning the pipe, I saw a carpet python curled up about a handspan from my face... Extricated the snake which was about 1.4 metres long and took it down the back to the old woodpile and set it free. The snake started moving and suddenly a kookaburra flew in to grab the snake, which was quite slow due to the cold rain. Twice the kooka tried to get the snake but the snake sought sanctuary in the woodpile.

Now, it is back to the downpipe for me to clean up the dead leaves, then to put on a dry shirt...

I had a pet money spider holed up in the roof lining of the van, now and again it would fuss about near the top of the windscreen, I wouldn't kill it as the missus suggested, so she wouldn't get in the van, let alone drive it.

About a week ago it decided to drop down while I was driving on a single thread, so I collected it and stuffed it out of the window. She'll drive the van now, funny that.

As for them Aussie wild life, na she won't be having none of them.

Free to choose apart from the ones where the trust poked their nose in. Common eel. tope. Bass and sea bream. All restricted.

New for 2016 TAT are the main instigators for the demise of the u k bass charter boat industry, where they went screaming off to parliament and for the first time assisting so called angling gurus set up bass take bans with the e u using rubbish exaggerated info collected by ices from anglers, they must be very proud.

Upgrade, the door has been closed with regards to anglers being linked to the e u superstate and the failed c f p. So TAT will no longer need to pay monies to the EAA anymore as that org is no longer relevant to the u k . Goodbye to the europeon anglers alliance and pathetic restrictions from the e u.

Angling is better than politics, ban politics from angling.

Consumer of bass. where is the evidence that the u k bass stock need angling trust protection. Why won't you work with your peers instead of castigating them. They have the answer.

Recipie's for mullet stew more than welcomed.

Angling sanitation trust and kent and sussex sea anglers org delete's and blocks rsa's alternative opinion on their face book site. Although they claim to rep all.

new for 2014. where is the evidence that the south coast bream stock need the angling trust? Your campaign has no evidence. Why won't you work with your peers, the inshore under tens? As opposed to alienating them? Angling trust failed big time re bait digging, even fish legal attempted to intervene and failed, all for what, nothing.

Looks like the sea angling reps have been coerced by the ifca's to compose sea angling strategy's that the ifca's at some stage will look at drafting into legislation to manage the rsa, because they like wasting tax payers money. That's without asking the rsa btw. You know who you are..

A 1.4m snake sounds a bit ambitious for a Kookaburra, (but I'll admit to knowing jack about Kookaburras - except their size).

I get spiders in my van too, but mostly I notice the ones in the door mirrors - I had one (or it's offspring) for a good few years - it always stayed tucked away when I was driving but used to appear from behind the mirror at speeds of over about 55mph. I can only assume that there was more airflow behind the mirror at those speeds than it was comfortable with and it took it's chances on the surface instead.

What do they find to eat inside a van?

Knowing spiders like I do, probably other spiders.

The problem isn't what people don't know, it's what they know that just ain't so.

My old mate was killed by such a bird in the late 70’s just outside of Sydney. Not enough, the predator also raped his dog and stole two tinnies of VB straight out of the pantry.

So relatively harmless by Aussie wildlife standards?

Bobj,

The problem is much easier for me. In my realm of North America there are but two kinds of snake. Poisonous and dead.

Is the snake native?

For some reason spiders are of no concern. Worked in a cotton compress and the warehouses were like going to heaven for black widow spiders. As far as I was concerned they had to fend for themselves. I wasn't bothered.

I didn't know you had any poisonous snakes State-side. I know you've got a fair few venomous ones.
