Maybe the "MOTABILITY SCOOTER INDUSTRY"  have a lot to thank him for!!

The descendents of Sir Clive's Sinclair C5 are to be seen everywhere today, but they're not cars.

He was limited to bulky and heavy lead acid batteries and modified 250 W (0.34 hp) washing machine motors, and the weight meant that he had no choice but to build a chassis with three wheels and a low centre of gravity.

Today's lithium batteries and permanent magnet motors are much lighter and are built into bikes and scooters.

Sinclair was a smart guy, but the technology of the 80's didn't allow him to build his dreams.

There is a bit more to it than that. Ebikes use brushless DC motors. Brushless DC motors use permanent magnets on the rotor and electromagnets on the stator. A microcontroller is used to switch the electromagnets to make the motor spin.

Unlike Chesters I did not like and never bought a Spectrum of any kind. I was a C64 boy. The 6510 was a nicer CPU to program than the Z80, at least in my opinion.

Anyway - once the Taliban can sort themselves out with a leader who has 2 brain cells to rub together, we westerners, once all the Contracts are given out, might then be able get on with digging up all the Lithium we need. Isn't that after all what it's all about re the withdrawal of US Troops??
