Happy belated birthday wishes to you both, especially for you reaching your retirement age Martin.

Now you can go fishing at a moments notice and pick the best days to go, plus you can pay pensioners rates for your fishing at last 🙂

We didn’t have TVs in our street back in the early 1950s and when we finally bought a TV we could only watch two black & White channels because colour TV hadn’t been invented yet 🙂

I have had a telly in my life from birth ,my mum rented one for the coronation and never stopped (despite remembering myself being sent to get a few groceries on tick ! (Who begrudges a 3 or 4 year old?),although very young i can remember the set to this day, i also have hazy memories of muffin the mule (unfortunately due to PETA now illegal 😉) and a cowboy series which the end credits were a wall and a big tree ?!? (Perhaps the cisco kid?) And ofcourse the potters wheel! Never been without one we even had a satellite setup for the tent!

Lots of things were in colour in the 50's the difference being our tvs couldnt show it! We (as in me and my family) first got a colour tv in the 70's (rented from DER?) Even then there was few channels so entertainment was annoying the neighbour until he screamed by leaning out of our back window and changing channels on HIS tv (he had the same set also from DER) the DER van was outside most days trying no doubt to repair this non existant fault!,,,,,,,,,,,,the we discovered satellite in the mid 80's and never looked back

None of this "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" crap it just means i have at least two enemies!

There is only one opinion i listen to ,its mine and its ALWAYS right even when its wrong

And, if you did have a telly back then you would be able to watch all those programs again this Christmas.
