What Happens When The Police Impound Your Car?

I watch quite a few of the police programmes on TV, and my understanding is that if the police impound your car and then find that they had every reason to, i.e. you definitely did have no insurance, then they crush it. Same with no tax, as suggested by the TV ads.

So, what's going to happen to this car, then? :o

Not street legal, driven by an unqualified motorost. No licence, so no insurance. I'd say it had crusher written all over it.

The problem isn't what people don't know, it's what they know that just ain't so.

I'll pay the impound fees for it!

Eating wild caught fish is good for my health, reduces food miles and keeps me fit trying to catch them........it's my choice to do it, not yours to stop me!

Hiya..In the next town to us, Bonnybridge, theres a breakers called Allparts Autosalvage, they get all the cars for breaking, ( not all are crushed) that have been taken off the road because of No Tax, MOT, or insurance...and believe me, there are some cracking cars in there..:) One of the girls in the office told me about a 1 year old BMW, which, when they got the boot open, was full of designer gear, and a new laptop!!! Theres a fine array of 4x4's too...its a wonder the owners of all those cars didnt just go and get insurance, or MOT...or tax........theres lots of cars from Criminals too..:) Good enough for them..

As for that car taken off that footy player...seems he might get a £1K fine!!! he'll have to work for about 3 minutes to earn that...I'd burn the car, make the git walk.....:):) What would have happened if he'd wiped out a family, and him not insured...?????

He should ask Ronaldo to pick it up for him. He needs a new car, anyway :D

Take it off him and sell it, fine (although whether a rich man should be fined quite so much more than a poor man is debatable), crushing a perfectly good £140,000 motor car is just vandalism and waste - reuse, repair, recycle and all that. You wouldn't burn down a house because the owner hadn't paid his taxes.
