Disgusted with this police state

My Mr's bought me a small folding (good quality) knife over the internet from the Florida recently to take with me when fishing for the usual stuff...chopping up meat, cutting line etc as a gift for christmas. Anyway this morning a letter arrived stating that the knife had been confiscated by the UK border force agency and that's it, unless I want to go to court and pay all kinds of expences etc and then it's unlikely I'd get it back !!!

I'm shocked at this as you can go to any shop and buy big sheath knives, filleting knives etc etc with no problem but you can't buy one from abroad and get it cheaper !

The very same knife is for sale in hundreds of shops in the uk and they confiscate mine co's it's come from abroad........

I have had small knives in the past without hasstle...Gerber knives with scissors etc so why now just steel my property ?

I don't suppose the authorities have any reason to think you are a member of the BNP!

Are you a member of the Countryside Alliance?

They might like to help you.

What's the BNP got to do with it ?

The point is I can go and buy the exact same knife or a much bigger knife over the counter in thousands of shops in the UK but to have one sent SAFELY through the post is illegal ? Beats me !

It strikes me some clown is just trying to justifie their job at the expence of others !

I bet you have bigger knives in your kitchen.

The whole knife thing pees me off - we're all classed as criminals these days just because of a few people who break the law and would have done so whatever the law on knives was.

Tigger, write and ask what has become of the knife, and say you want proof it has been destroyed and not misappropriated by some employee of border control. Say the failure to provide such proof you will regard as evidence of theft.

Dunno how sound that is legally, but it might just jolt someone. Better than just sitting back and taking it.

Last year I wanted to send Bowie knives to two friends in the US. I parcelled up the first, completed the customs form and said that there was a knife in the parcel. The woman told me that I couldn't send a weapon in the post. I explained that it wasn't a weapon, just a knife. It was like talking to a brick wall. I took the parcel home, ripped off the customs dec, put on a new one and said the contents of the parcel were "Fishing Tackle (bait processor)". Oz post accepted the parcels and both of my US friends (Newt was one of them) received their knives a few days later.

Very good. :clap::clap::)

Free to choose apart from the ones where the trust poked their nose in. Common eel. tope. Bass and sea bream. All restricted.

New for 2016 TAT are the main instigators for the demise of the u k bass charter boat industry, where they went screaming off to parliament and for the first time assisting so called angling gurus set up bass take bans with the e u using rubbish exaggerated info collected by ices from anglers, they must be very proud.

Upgrade, the door has been closed with regards to anglers being linked to the e u superstate and the failed c f p. So TAT will no longer need to pay monies to the EAA anymore as that org is no longer relevant to the u k . Goodbye to the europeon anglers alliance and pathetic restrictions from the e u.

Angling is better than politics, ban politics from angling.

Consumer of bass. where is the evidence that the u k bass stock need angling trust protection. Why won't you work with your peers instead of castigating them. They have the answer.

Recipie's for mullet stew more than welcomed.

Angling sanitation trust and kent and sussex sea anglers org delete's and blocks rsa's alternative opinion on their face book site. Although they claim to rep all.

new for 2014. where is the evidence that the south coast bream stock need the angling trust? Your campaign has no evidence. Why won't you work with your peers, the inshore under tens? As opposed to alienating them? Angling trust failed big time re bait digging, even fish legal attempted to intervene and failed, all for what, nothing.

Looks like the sea angling reps have been coerced by the ifca's to compose sea angling strategy's that the ifca's at some stage will look at drafting into legislation to manage the rsa, because they like wasting tax payers money. That's without asking the rsa btw. You know who you are..
