From the ground.

Oil is $ 115 a barrel at the moment, was $ 60 not long ago.

While the oil price is high so will be the tax rate, if the oil price drops back so will the tax rate.

Fair is fair.

Apparently there was a Green party spokesman on the radio earlier sticking the boot into this - to be honest, I thought any cut would be politically impossible, given how much the LibDems like to talk about climate change.

1p a litre wow how stupid do this lot think we are 20%VAT on fuel as it creeps up so does the intake with VAT at 20% the goverment dont mind increases in oil it means the tax just gets bigger when you are at the pumps this lot wouldnt mind it being £2 a litre it doesnt affect them they can afford it the 20% VAT is crippling this country everything is going through the roof the only left is to get interest rates up and they are doing there best to do that .

Hopefully, they'll start sending us some aid money soon.

What did they do with that Airport departure tax? (On passengers).

Britain charges more than any other country, and while every other country has either slashed it or removed it altogether, the British have been increasing it.

Other countries have realized that they lose more money through lost passenger numbers than they gained by increased taxes.......

One reason why British airways are moving their operations centre from the UK to madrid perhaps?

i would tax aviation fuel at the same tax as petrol and diesel why should there be a difference?

how can you save by not increasing a price

chancellor "i was going to charge you a fuel tax of 2 grand a litre when you filled up but i wont so your all multi millionaires and will all pay the upper rate of tax on your incomes"

Because it's businesses that generate jobs and wealth and, without them, this country is doomed.

The fuel prices do worry me because as said before it never seems to come back down once it has gone back up , it only seems to ever go up and up at frightening rates .

When this government came to be they did state that the recovery process would mean hard times for most people for a year or so and we mostly all agreed that at last we have a government that is telling it how it is , but when it comes to the crunch and we are being affected we all get up in arms about it.

It does seem unfair though that the rich can get richer in this sort of climate and can ride the storm and the poor suffer , but at the end of the day i suppose this has been the pattern of life for centuries .

Like you elton i love my cars and have been looking forward to getting another gto or similar performance car , but the crippling fuel prices means that as it is im finding it hard running my truck for business and a humble renault laguna .

Some people are genuinely suffering at the moment and me moaning about not being able to get a third car is taking the pi22 so i will shut up
