Recreational drugs

Most recreational drugs have been illegal in the UK for many years. Tens of millions of pounds have been spent by the police and customs to enforce drug law. The result is there have never been so many drugs available on the street, there have never been so many people using drugs, drugs have never been so easy to acquire and so cheap. Doesn't seem to be working does it?

In another thread it was suggested that dealers in class a drugs should receive the death sentence. Now given that drug dealers are much more likely to be shot and killed by other drug dealers rather than receive a sentence of death from the courts then the idea doesn't seem to be much of a deterrent. you would have to ask yourself why dealers get involved in the business if it is so dangerous. The simple answer is profit, there is a massive amount of money to be made.

This leads to the other major problem associated with illegal drugs, that is the level of criminality associated with raising the money to buy them.

Lastly we have the threat to the health of drug users from sharing needles (HIV and AIDS as well as hepatitis) there is also a major problem with people injecting adulterated drugs with no idea of dosage or content.

The answer, at least the only answer which presently addresses all of these problems, would seem to be legalisation.

it is only with legalisation that there can be any measure of control. If the user can go to his local pharmacy and legally obtain, by prescription, a controlled amount of clinically pure drug then he would have no further need for drug dealers. The drug dealers would not be making any money so would look for something else to do. Without having to pay the drug dealers most of the criminality, burglaries muggings etc would cease. The police could use their resources for doing something more useful. Accident and emergency departments would not waste time caring for the thousands of accidental overdoses seen every weekend.

Let's have a grown-up discussion ;)

recreational?

got a bottle of morphine here (oral) perfectly legal ,the difference is i expect somewhere down the line tax has been paid on it or on its production.drugs are different crime wise but our ridiculous tax system encourages crime on most other things ,after all if things were as cheap as they really are then there would be no point forging them ,put all counterfeit crime firmly at the feet of those stupid enough to buy crap at hyper inflated prices so the crims can sell the counterfeit stuff for half the hyper inflated price.

As to cannabis. There's more to it than LD50's. High cannabis consumption has been correlated with both psychosis and memory impairment. I certainly used to see high cannabis consumption linked to psychotic episodes by clinicians in my old job although I've not gone digging for studies indicating a direct causal relationship.

Cannabis is not risk-free, but it's less harmful than alcohol.

I think the writers of Southpark were bang-on when they wrote this dialogue:

Randy: Well, Stan, the truth is marijuana probably isn't gonna make you kill people, and it most likely isn't gonna fund terrorism, but, well son, pot makes you feel fine with being bored, and it's when you're bored that you should be learning some new skill or discovering some new science or being creative. If you smoke pot you may grow up to find out that you aren't good at anything.

I know some very, very successful, hard working people who like a spliff, but I also know some people who use it to make a life of crap TV and idleness bearable. And at least one who really shouldn't do it from a mental health point of view.

And it has medicinal purposes. :D

Some pot champions are trying to get it available on the NHS.

oi dude, thought you was away from here having a whoopie

Free to choose apart from the ones where the trust poked their nose in. Common eel. tope. Bass and sea bream. All restricted.

New for 2016 TAT are the main instigators for the demise of the u k bass charter boat industry, where they went screaming off to parliament and for the first time assisting so called angling gurus set up bass take bans with the e u using rubbish exaggerated info collected by ices from anglers, they must be very proud.

Upgrade, the door has been closed with regards to anglers being linked to the e u superstate and the failed c f p. So TAT will no longer need to pay monies to the EAA anymore as that org is no longer relevant to the u k . Goodbye to the europeon anglers alliance and pathetic restrictions from the e u.

Angling is better than politics, ban politics from angling.

Consumer of bass. where is the evidence that the u k bass stock need angling trust protection. Why won't you work with your peers instead of castigating them. They have the answer.

Recipie's for mullet stew more than welcomed.

Angling sanitation trust and kent and sussex sea anglers org delete's and blocks rsa's alternative opinion on their face book site. Although they claim to rep all.

new for 2014. where is the evidence that the south coast bream stock need the angling trust? Your campaign has no evidence. Why won't you work with your peers, the inshore under tens? As opposed to alienating them? Angling trust failed big time re bait digging, even fish legal attempted to intervene and failed, all for what, nothing.

Looks like the sea angling reps have been coerced by the ifca's to compose sea angling strategy's that the ifca's at some stage will look at drafting into legislation to manage the rsa, because they like wasting tax payers money. That's without asking the rsa btw. You know who you are..

In the meantime the control of drugs is left up to the criminal gangs.

Don't they call that abdicating resposibility <_<
