Got a windfall of around £6000 and am looking to change my old micra.

Want summat nice this time and with a bit more room for 4 people and a dog or 2 people and lots of fishing gear :D

It must be a hatch back and be economical and reliable.

With 6 grand down and maybe 2 grand on monthly payments i expect something nice as im not after a new car but summat about 3 years old.

My first 3 choices is

1. 5 door Nissan Almera

2. 5 door Ford Focus

3. 5 door Peugeot

Not bothered about a big engine as i want Economy.

Any reccomondations or thoughts.....funny or serious.

Ta in advance

Except for the gas mileage thing this should do nicely. Not only FWD but also each wheel can be steered rather than just the front two as a pair.

The extended cab section allows for another set of seats if you want or with just plastic covering is idea for a muddy dog.

And as you can see, stopping for traffic jams would be a thing of the past. :)

You might want to have a look at a APC ex army, you won't get great mpg but you never get any agro on the road, and as for parking just park where you like, even on top of other vehicles :D:D:D and it will carry or pull anything

Suppose,

I'd look at what taxi drivers are using...

coz they have to be reliable/cheap?/and carry 4 people and their belongings.

The Skoda Octavia got raves reviews (a few years back) & there's loads of them being used as taxis round here.

Not really relevant to your question,

but I had my eye on a Bedford Rascal :)

for w/e's away cheaply ie no hotel b&b costs,

(ie crash in the back).

Might be worth looking into a car that you could crash in the back when all seats are folded? (for late night or w/e fishing etc)

rascalls are ok if you like carrying a couple of sacks of cement in the back in snowy conditions :D

i`d go for the focus :)

On a more serious note how about the new Hyundai MPV?? The deisel is at same cost as the petrol at the moment (£9995??) gets good reviews and with a 5 year warranty (Transferable) and 2 years breakdown cover to boot. Must be worth a look??

It is to be observed that 'angling' is the name given to fishing by people who can't fish.

If GOD had NOT meant us to go fishing, WHY did he give us arms then??

(If you can't help out someone in need then don't bother my old Dad always said! My grandma put it a LITTLE more, well different! It's like peeing yourself in a black pair of pants she said! It gives you a LOVELY warm feeling but no-one really notices!))

Newt,

FWD = Front Wheel Drive over here...have a sneaking suspicion that that one is AWD :D
