Believe NOTHING anyones says or writes unless you witness it yourself and even then your eyes can deceive you

None of this "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" crap it just means i have at least two enemies!

 

There is only one opinion i listen to ,its mine and its ALWAYS right even when its wrong

 

Its far easier to curse the darkness than light one candle

A KJV bible has around 1900 pages of nice thin paper but the most obvious use tends to upset people for some reason.

The King James V Bible is an important part of our literature and heritage whether or not the stories held betwixt it's covers are true or not.

I was told as a pup and long believed most KJV are printed on hemp. The reason for thin strong and durable paper.

The KJV and other long books that need to be printed in one volume, dictionaries and encyclopaedias for example are printed on what is often called "Bible Paper". This is also known in the printing trade as lightweight offset paper This is a wood pulp free paper usually based on cotton or linen.

 

The "hemp" that you were told that Bible Paper was made from was unlikely to be the hemp that is sometimes known as cannabis, but was more likely from another plant, Manila hemp (Musa textilis) a member of the banana family.

 

Hemp ropes are also made from Manila hemp (when I was at sea the terms "hemp rope" and "Manila rope were interchangeable and referred to the same stuff). Manila envelopes were made from a rough and unbleached Manila hemp paper which gave them there distinctive colour.The name Manila comes from the capital of the Philippines, where it was was first grown commercially.

 

Modern Bible paper is about 40gsm is TCF (Totally Chlorine Free), alum free, rosin free and has a pH balance greater than 7.5. It also has a high pigment content, usually titanium oxide which gives it it's high opacity. These characteristics make modern Bible Paper excellent for publications that need to last for a long time and should last for more than one hundred years without yellowing, foxing or cracking.

 

Chesters fag rolling rolling papers are typically made from rice (Rizla) or linen (OCB). Paper is interesting stuff.
