Setting any jollity aside for a moment, only two more days have passed and the death toll has risen to 61!

With 103 suspected cases in total, that's a scary high mortality rate - although it will likely drop when help arrives and supportive care becomes possible.

Ebola Zaire has a mortality rate of 60 - 90% and with the exception of the Reston I believe all the other strains are 25% or greater. Edited August 24, 2018 by snakey1

The location of this outbreak may seem isolated but it's less than 250 miles from Kampala.

An update from the Congolese Ministry of Health on Sunday puts the case total at 142, with 111 confirmed infections and 31 probable. A total of 97 people have died.

Why do we keep letting in foreign diseases didnt we learn foreigners bring it? Or people get it from foreigners and bring it back ,close the damn borders and ban aeroplanes aswell ,and foreign students and children blocking up the roads

Oh please spare us the tin foil hat brigade stuff. I thought you were beyond that. Who are "small-pharma" is there some kind of "Mom and Pop Pharma" we should turn to instead of "Big Pharma". Smallpox vaccine works quite well. There is no treatment as far as I know, but the small pox vaccine apparently still works up to ten days after exposure.
