I like to travel light, but also with enough kit to change tactics should the need arise. When I fish the Welland (town stretch) the only bait I take is bread for breadpunch. Two slices of bread microwaved for 15 seconds in a bag then rolled with a rolling pin. Only one pole is taken and a small selection of floats etc. I do however take my seat box and what ever is in it, along with bag of bits n bobs.

How many times do we see "tackle tarts" at the water with everything they're not going to use. I know we should all go prepared for the unexpected but some guys are real posers and tackle tarts.

Take nothing but photo's.

Leave nothing but footprints.

One dog, one rod, one reel, one rod rest, one folding trout type landing net, one chair, and everything else - bait, terminal tackle, flask, etc. goes in a game bag.

When I'm fly fishing I dispense with the rod rest, chair and bag. Everything goes in the vest pockets.

DITTO except I take two rods in case one breaks.

Fishing with less gear has become a bit of a preoccupation for me. I've come to the conclusion that while I can carry terminal tackle that will realistically catch everything from bleak to pike in a small rucksack and that I only need two rods to cover most eventualities, it's fishing comfortably that's the clincher. As much as I like fishing light, the thought of spending a whole day in one spot without a decent chair, umbrella and enough food and drink is not a good one (roving sessions are different of course).

Err??

All of the above depends on where I am fishing, how i am fishing and what I am fishing for.

Same here, I sometimes take a chair but a seat box is usually more practical.

If I was in match and I had a long walk I would take a trolley but otherwisw I would carry it or drive straight to the peg :clap2:

I prefer to travel light but again it all depends on the venue and the species that I intend to fish for and the duration of my stay.
